I wasn't able to hit up the show due to work, but just for reference--how would you compare it to the Indy show of a weeks ago?

They were similar....KC probably had more celebrities but that doesn't help me out...so don't really care about that.  I purchased more at Indiana but KC had some good dealers too.   Big crowds at both...Both worth going to!

I was hoping to be able to go on Saturday. My two brothers and their kids were going to meet up with us, but unfortunately they are both not going to be able to attend this year. So myself, my wife, and my two older kids are going to be attending on Sunday instead.
Thanks to @oakman29, @Randall Dowling, @wombat, and so many others, I'll be looking for bronze and early copper age magazines to help grow a collection that I just recently began earlier this year.
The last time I was at MCCC was 2009 or 2010. Should be a good time.

We have set up at Motor City for many years....over the past few years it has grown a tremendous amount....almost more than the Novi Convention Center can handle at this point.  Great show....

Our booth will have 16 magazine boxes of stuff...Warren mags, Marvel, Skywalds, Eerie Pub and many others so come check out Mark Scott Comics if you are looking for magazines....Last year our booth was 715/814 but not sure this year....should be in the same area....

  3. This was my first Planet Comic Con so did not really know what to expect....that being said set a pretty high goal for myself due to the inventory I took...first 2 days were underwhelming but Sunday was killer...pretty much opposite of most shows.

Good sales of GA and SA to several customers and a few nice dealer sales put me over the top (I gear my sales towards dealers).

All said and done...still not sure if I will return.  Set up Thurs was the worst...hated it.  Out of all the shows we do this was the worst...Sunday tear down was better.  Should have ran set up more like tear down.

Sounds like Dale was the centerpiece dealer at the show.  Dale - was it a good show sales wise considering the Holiday weekend?

Lol....Dale is one of the best comic dealers in the country and at any show will probably have the best material you will want!

From one of the non-centerpiece guys w/4 booths of vintage material....the show was fantastic.  Being on Easter weekend had no effect at all with the exception of a slower Sunday (expected)....we've set up at each of the Indiana Comic Cons.

My business model is to sell to dealers and to the regular Joe....normally won't see many high grade or keys from me unless you have a dealer badge and get to me early.

Dale can give you his own review but judging from the crowd and my past experience with this convention....Indiana is a great place for a comic show....even on Easter weekend.

  5. This was the 4th year for the Indiana Comic Con and it was the best one yet!  A big thanks to the everyone involved putting it together...great job!

Easter weekend was just fine for a comic show....Sunday was a little slower than in the past but that was to be expected being Easter....maybe end at 4:00 on Sunday instead of 5:00.

Already looking forward to ICC 2018!!

  6. Lots of nice finds....always fun to see what everyone is picking up....

Here are a few from an OO collection I just bought....they were not cheap but I am pretty happy!

Im certain your inbox is full of pms.

lol....actually not one....which is good since I would be disappointing anyone who sends one.

What shape are the books in? They look pretty nice.

Like any collection they vary... But most are at least mid-grade or better.

How is the condition on the Fantasy 15 ? Clearly that is the money book that made the purchase expensive.

    VG

Yeah it was...the AF 15 cost was the biggest part by far of the near 300 comics purchased.

  8. At the conclusion of the convention this year they had a meeting explaining the situation.

Basically they stated that the convention center had them down for the wrong dates but they were trying to work it out to change to the normal dates.

They must not have been able to negotiate a deal as last week they sent out early bird notices to dealers for a discount on booth fees for paying early. The dates were Aug 24-27 2017.

Not ideal as we all get used to the same schedule year after year but what can you do? Just wait a week later for one of the best shows of the year!
