19 Piece Lot War is Hell #1 Final Production Art Collection ****$280 Shipped****

- I believe these to be the final drafts of all the art pages before production of the issue War is Hell #1. I thought about breaking these up and selling them individually, but I believe a one of a kind collection like this should remain together.

- All 19 pieces are stats glued onto a Bristol board, except the 2nd page which has been removed from it's Bristol board, a few pieces do have some original art fill-ins along the edges.

- All 19 pieces measure around 16"x11" and have the 1972 stamp w/ signature on back, except the second page which has been removed from its Bristol board.

- Pages have white out, old tape, and additional ink on them for corrections.

I bought a stack of drawings this weekend at a swap meet here in San Diego. I tried doing some research on who the artist could be and found artist Mel Rubi. These would be his pre-pro work, I know he currently lives in California and the dates on the signatures sort of fit his timeline. 

- first got hired in 86/87 from silver wolf comics, then a week later they go out of business.

- finally got hired by Marvel and Valiant at wondercon in 1993

Obviously his skills have gotten a lot better these days and he's got the fancy signature now, but his silly cartoonish art looks similar to what I have. Included is a Star Trek spoof, Blake's 7, and a Star Trek dog spoof.

So guys, am I reaching???? Or do I have a case????

Thanks for all the help guys. Wurstisart, I wish these were the originals, but some do have actual artwork along the edges of some of the stats though. Vodou, that's about where I was at as far as the value. I posted all 19, I believe these make up the entire War is Hell #1 comic minus the ad pages and letters.

I've been collecting comics since 1995, but have never dabbled in original art of any kind. I recently came up on 19 art prints all measuring 15 1/2" x 10 1/2". All 19 prints are from the issue War is Hell #1. From the research I have done, I believe these are not original art but stat pasted onto the art boards. I was just wondering if you guys could confirm my beliefs and maybe tell what is the estimated value on something like this???? Thanks in advance.
