  1. Momoa is a tool for dismissing the rumors initially and then teasing they might be true, then pulling a 180 again.

What's the dealio? So many mixed signals from that guy.

Still think he'd make a good Aquaman tho.

I think all confirmation/denial is at the studio's behest. The studio might be speaking to more than one actor in consideration for the role and the actors are asked/told to keep it quiet but for some reason "insiders" keep coming up with Momoa and in response he's sort of just going with what he hears from his representatives about the casting. At one point in time it may have been close to an agreement and another not so much. Personally, I really hope these rumors end up being true because this role definitely needs someone with presence.

  2. Saw the movie with my son last weekend. We both loved it. As much as I missed the White Queen, I liked this movie better than First Class. The Sentinels were one of my favorite villains due to the original Days of Future Past storyline. It was great to see them on the big screen finally, and it was a bit sad to see some of my favorite characters as a kid being killed off by them. Poor Colossus just does not get any respect......... :sorry:

lol sad but sooo true unfortunately

  3. Latino-Review said that JL release date is May 5th, 2017.

here is the original source from the last post. WB/DC movie plans

Im catching up after a few days and I'm a bit confused. The article says the release date for BvS: DOJ is scheduled for May 2016 release with Shazam set for a July 2016 release, is that correct? Isn't that cutting it a a little too close to one another? Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of not having to wait a whole year for a DC installment but I figured it would be better to space them out more. But if DOJ is rescheduled to 2017 (bummer) I wouldn't mind Shazam filing in but boy is that movie going to be difficult to pull-off. Also, this Flash/Green Lantern movie is personally my favorite one of the bunch because I absolutely love those Silver Age funny books. I can't wait to see the castings for those two roles, that's assuming Grant Gustin isn't their decision for the cinematic version.

  4. I don't know how I feel about the art on this one. I enjoy the writing for AWA but its the art that really does it for me. I'm intrigued by the Sabrina storyline but I don't know if it'll become a regular for me given that Francavilla wont be involved with it. We shall see, can't judge a book by its cover.

  5. I think a Sinister Six movie is a cool idea, but how could they pull that off without Spidey? Is there just going to be a movie about the formation of the Sinister Six and then them going on a crime spree with nobody to stop them?

This definitely sounds like something Sony would think is a brilliant idea. doh! . Here's to hoping that working with Joss Whedon all these years has rubbed off on Drew Goddard and he can put something decent together :wishluck: . I love the idea of seeing The Sinster Six together on the big screen but after watching ASM2 I've lost all confidence in Sony.

  6. The studio isn't sending out congratulations to anyone involved in this.

Far from it. Heads are going to roll over this turd.

It's going to be a struggle to break $200 million domestically. Seriously, it may not even break it. That's an embarrassment for a top tier character.

And domestically, which is where the studios really make their money, it'll never catch up to Man of Steel which has a $100 million lead over it.

Domestically it has no chance of catching Captain America Winter Soldier and may not even catch the second Thor movie. It's not worthy of even comparing it to the Iron Man franchise.

Wow. How badly has this iconic character has fallen?

At a time when Marvel movies seem to be hitting their peak, both critically and financially, ASM 2, even with the help of 3D and IMAX dollars, may not even do HALF of what the first Raimi Spider-man did, in 2002 dollars!

It's going to be interesting to see how close X-Men DOFO comes to catching ASM2 in just it's second week! A movie that even a non-Marvel Studio's production has managed to make right.

Whatever plans they had for this Spider-man franchise - it will change. Be it a new director, a new cast, whatever... Something is going to change. Relying on the foreign market, who love the character regardless of how bad the movie is, just isn't profitable enough to continue the way they've been going. It's foreign grosses are over 72% of it's take! That's NOT what a studio wants to see!

What's next? We'll make up for it in DVD sales! lol

    This.

    Nice spin... :eyeroll:

Domestically, Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) is on track to take in $200 million, which is an all time low for the franchise and around Superman Returns (2006) number and off over $60 million from Amazing Spider-Man 1 (2012). The studios don't see as much of the International grosses, so I doubt anyone at Sony is patting themselves on the back for this movie.

Here are the Spider-Man films domestic box office takes:

    Spider-Man 1 (2002) $403 million

    Spider-Man 2 (2004) $373 million

    Spider-Man 3 (2007) $336 million

    Amazing Spider-Man 1 (2012) $262 million

    Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) $187 million (project to finish at $200 million)

I'm sure Sony is very pleased their latest outing will end up taking in half of the first movie's take 12 years later. And when you adjust for inflation, I'll bet more than one Sony exec is :frustrated:

I will say this though, congratulations to Sony for releasing this movie Internationally first. They must have realized this was a turkey from the get go, so they did the best they could to maximize it's potential.

I knew it was bad but I didn't know it was this bad...

That's what I was thinking. Kids will buy Spider-Man toys from Disney whether a movie succeeds or not. Disney made out like a bandit due to Sony's poor financials. Oddly enough, isn't that why Marvel has all these movie rights issues in the first place is how they had to sell off such rights to deal with bankruptcy?

Reading that summary from Iger is interesting. He must have wanted to scream out 'INSTANT MONEY' with this news.

Then in July, Sony Pictures will release The Amazing Spiderman. We're excited about the film and expect it will drive significant benefits for Spiderman consumer products.

To that end, we recently completed a transaction with Sony Pictures to simplify our relationship. And then in the deal, we purchased Sony Pictures' participation in Spiderman merchandising, while at the same time, Sony Pictures purchased from us our participation in Spiderman films. This transaction will allow us to control and fully benefit from all Spiderman merchandising activity, while Sony will continue to produce and distribute Spiderman films. We won't be specific about the economics of this 2-way transaction, but we expect it will drive attractive returns for Disney.

All those birthday party kits, Halloween costumes, bed sheets, toys, branded radios/clocks/lamps, etc. - all Disney. And no movie budget risk for them.

That is huge. Merchandising revenue is incredibly vital, just ask George Lucas.

  7. Another casting rumor about the newer members.

Is Callan Mulvey playing The Joker in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

A couple of weeks ago director of photography Larry Fong posted an image of a playing card to his Instagram account, sparking speculation as to whether The Joker could appear in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Well, gossip site TMZ has seemingly picked up the ball and run with it, speculating that 300: Rise of an Empire star Callan Mulvey – who has been cast in the film in what Warner Bros. has described as a newly-created character – is set to portray the Clown Prince of Crime.

I don't see it. But maybe he will go all Heath Ledger on this.

    (shrug)

Is this the same guy from Winter Soldier? So he'd portray two different villains in two different movies? I don't know, I'm skeptical of anyone trying to portray the Joker after Ledger but this guy definitely doesn't seem like the actor to tackle the role.

  8. Just got home from watching it. People did applaud in the end. I thought it rated a strong B+. It had a great cast with spectacular FX. I just wish this guy had gotten more screen time...

    quicksilver-xmen-days-future-past-carls-jr.jpg

    Think about that statement...

Four days ago, if someone would have told me I would walk out of that movie loving me some Quicksilver, I would have smacked them silly....

As I keep thinking about this movie, I am actually liking it more and more.

I gotta go see it again. No choice.

+1 I was first in line at the bar serving haterade. I was wrong and could not be happier about it. He really stole the show. That's the kind of stuff that catches a kid's imagination. :applause: to the actor and the writers.

You guys aren't alone in this. My sister couldn't care less about the X-men but she loves American Horror Story and therefore loves the actor who portrayed Quicksilver. That's the only reason she wanted to watch this movie and when she told me she was excited to see it because of him I said she was crazy and started going on about his costume and all this other stuff. In the end, after watching the film, his brief part in the film was worth the price of admission alone. lol , just goes to show you that you shouldn't rush to make judgements about something you haven't yet seen.

  9. For anyone that has seen it. I am thinking of taking my 10 year old daughter. My 12 year old boy has no choice.

Is there anything in the movie I should be concerned about for a 10 year old girl? The violence and language I am not overly concerned about.

Jackman is very briefly nude. I can't think of much else.

  10. XO: Wolverine is an interesting egg. You can sit through most of it without thinking much about it, but when it's over, you wind up hating yourself in the morning. It made me drag my feet to see the much superior The Wolverine. Especially, since the sequel was directed by Hugh's Kate & Leopold's director James Mangold. It gave me a feeling of an actor to comfortable to have a "controlled" studio director again.

There are definitely scenes in the XO: Wolverine movie I enjoy watching. And although different than your comic-based Sabretooth, I think Liev Schreiber really captured the ferocity and deviousness of the character.

When I ran into Schreiber at the airport the previous year, I so wanted to ask him about his performance. But I wasn't sure if he saw it as a high point in his career, or a failure because of the performance of the film. So I left it alone. But I probably should have asked, as I am sure he felt good about his part in the film. It's the mess that the -script became that really took that movie down a horrible path.

Liev Schreiber was definitely one of the few highlights of the film. He was far superior than the seldom speaking-often growling version of Sabertooth ( ) from X1.

  11. I might be in the minority, but I didn't like the film at all.

Actually wasn't a fan of any of the movies in the series, but did (for the most part) enjoy both First Class and the last Wolverine movie.

(I did love that Claremont made a cameo in it, Len Wein too, but I've never seen what he looks like to have caught that).

(I just saw Spider-Man 2 on Monday too, which was completely atrocious).

I told my friend in the theater that the end scene should have been something for Spider-Man since they had something for them in his movie.

Either way, Marvel - I want my $20 from this week.

Since I stop reading your post at you didnt like First class and you are the first person to say you disliked DOFP over the many that have liked the movie I would say you are def in the smallest minority possible.

Most were split on ASM2 but DOFP seems to be well liked (even loved) across the board. I felt ASM2 was pretty bad as well but I thought DOFP was amazing. I think this may be another case of trailer/footage overload where you may have seen most of the film before walking into the theater and that took away from the experience while at the same time raising your expectation levels to unrealistic heights. There was another boardie a few pages back who expressed the same sentiment. This is why I go in blind to films which I know without a doubt I'll end up watching and its really heightened my experience. Do you perhaps think this had anything to do with you not liking the film? hm

  12.

    Question:

Was that Apocalypse at the end of the credits before the suit? I've only seen him in the 80s cartoons and that mutant in not to be trifled with. If they were having trouble with the Sentinels I wonder how they'll fair against him. hm

That's what I gather. I never really followed the plot line, but I wonder that if he was from ancient times, what did he do all those centuries before deciding to surface in present time?

In some sense, I'm glad to not be familiar with the plot, as it doesn't raise expectations too high. I think after watching all the trailers and hype, I

    1) spoiled a lot of the surprise elements by watching the major scenes already.

    2) had too high of expectations for the film to really love it as much as others are. Part of the reason I liked cap 2 so much is that I didn't expect much after the first.

I know exactly what you mean by this and that is why I refuse to watch trailers or any footage for films that I know I'm absolutely going to watch. I've been doing this since after The Dark Knight Rises. In the trailer for TDKR they showed (among other things) Batman pacing back from Bane because he's finally met his physical match and I felt that was one of the most mesmerizing scenes from the trilogy and I would have liked to have watch it unfold for the first time during the film. Since then, I haven't watched trailers and its been beneficial to my experience, personally.

  14. So far, sounds like a big winner.

    :applause:

It is, everyone should see it as soon as possible. I just got home from watching it and I thought it was terrific, it's definitely top 5 of all time territory.

    Some notes:

Quicksilver absolutely steals the show. His appearance alone was worth the price of admission.

A lot of wrongs were righted and the best part of this film maybe that "The Last Stand" never happened.

  15. What are you guys watching on Wednesday nights now that this show is taking its summer vacation? hm

Nothing. I read more unless there's a sport I care about on, or the very rare occassion where a good movie is playing.

catch up on your cable shows, you can't possibly have watched all of them -

Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Silicon Valley, Americans, Archer, Justified

If you've got a ton of time and HBO Go you should go back and watch the Wire or Sopranos, pretty much the best TV EVER (aside from maybe GOT and Prison Break Season 1)

Or go back in time and watch some nerdy older stuff u missed out on like Fringe, Firefly, Jericho?

I've personally seen all of that except The Americans which I haven't gotten around to watching. It takes place during the Cold War era, if I'm not mistaken, and that just doesn't sound interesting. I'm taking time out right now to watch Seinfeld for the first time.

P.S. Silicon Valley is probably the funniest show on TV right now. It really should have its own thread to bring awareness to the show.
