My appreciation for pre-hero marvels grows every time I read this thread.

It's Sunday. Why is this thread not at one hundred pages yet?

Have not read the comic but as a fan of zombie movies, really have enjoyed the show. So far season 1 and 2 were better than 3 IMHO.

 

As much as I like the show, I have to say Kirkman really takes liberty sampling Romero's ideas from the 4 Romero dead movies. Saw the influence of the original trilogy in the first 2 seasons and now the Governor and Woodberry is very reminiscent of Land of the dead(4th installment of the dead series).

 

Governor equals the Dennis Hopper character who created a safe zone city he controls surrounded by walls and guards. Even the entertainment incorporating zombies and fights was done on Land. The production of the concept may be better in Walking dead but its clearly very similar.

I've never seen any of these but I guess it may be worth checking out.

Wow! Log off comics general for a couple of hours and everything goes crazy!

I think there will be a jump, but I agree with comicalgems that it will not be to the magnitude of issue 19 or even 27.

more lines for michonne to grow as a character and less plot holes.

I think this is the most important thing moving forward. There is nothing to her character. She needs some more time to grow and make people appreciate how good her character really is. (not just slicing zombies)

That ties up that loose end, I'm thinking she probably dropped it when she was trying to get away since it was probably slowing her down.

 

Now to figure out what happened to Carol how that zombie ate every bit of Lori.

Yeah. I'm not gettin' that one either. I can't believe the writers would make that big a mistake. Maybe more will be revealed later on.

Perhaps some additional Zombies were in on the feast as well, but they weren't overly loated and were able to walk away.

Inside that walker....right? That's why he cut his stomach

This was the one part that confused me. It couldn't have been here entire body so what gives?

I love this idea. This is the exact reason I have not logged on to this thread until today. Just watched the episode last night. Thought it was really good! Will read through and see if my questions have been answered.

 

I have read them. I wouldn't be pushing them on anyone, but if someone asks about the original story I would just tell them it is a comic book and it would be cheaper to pick up the COMPENDIUM instead of trying the buy the comics.

Some of you may know that I am a High School teacher.

 

After teaching my classes today I have to tell you that there is A LOT of talk with kids about the show last night. You rarely hear kids hooked on TV shows like this on a regular basis. It is making others who don't watch the show want to pick it up. (Clearly I will be recommending the TPB as well)

 

Looks like the show continues to grow its audience.

 

As a teacher, you should probably re-read the TPBs first. I'm not sure some of it may meet with approval from your School Board or community.

I was just thinking. Why did everyone run back into the Prison when the Zombies showed up. Why not run to the gate and hook up with the people who have the guns. (other than Hersell of course... you know... because of the leg and all...)

I say, Carol accidentally stumbled upon lori, had some medical stitches and antibiotics in her back pocket. Sews up lori and everyone lives

My guess is that Carol finds Lori just before or just after she turns and Lori bites her before Carol realizes she is a Zombie.

Oscar seems to be shaping up to be "Tyreese"

 

But i just have a feeling that Tyreese is going to still be on the show. he was just too intrical to the comic to totally blow off on the show.

 

I've always seen Daryl as Tyreese. His relationship with Rick and Carol seems to somewhat line up with the comic. Plus having the gov kill him would be good tv.

 

Killing the most popular character on the show would probably end in an eventual ratings disaster. If anything the show should do what the comic dared not and had Rick be killed at the end of the prison storyline.

 

When I read the comic, Tyreese's death shocked me. He was a main character and Rick's right hand man. If they try to re-create that scene Darly is the logical choice.

 

Or.............. they could use Andrea. I still think bad things from the Gov are heading her way. Either rape or cutting her head off in an attempt to get into the prison.

 

Yea maybe he tortures her instead of Michonne.

It really seems to be headed that way.

I really hope the writers of the show leave out Rick and his "telephone call to heaven" mental break.

I forgot about that! Perhaps instead Lori can come back and talk to Rick like Obi Wan Kenobi did!

Still can't believe this episode. Didn't expect a killing spree like this until later in the season

Its funny to because T-dog was up to about 2 sentences a show, was def getting more dialog. And then he went

Maybe when he started talking more they finally realized how much he sucked!

What's hard to believe is the not securing their perimeter and letting their guard down. They're soldiers. They got crept on by "self trained" peeps?

That is pretty weak. You would imagine that they would have been a little more cautious with strangers by this time.

Has anyone else thought of this? Andrea appears to be attracted to Mr. Governor. In the comic, it's a woman that the Governor orders to kill Lori. What if she stays at Woodbury, doesn't reunite with the group? What if SHE is the one that kills Lori and her baby when they attack the prison? I know, thin...

I can't wait to see how this all plays out. The brothers on different sides. Andrea who may still resent the others for leaving her at the farm. Could be a great point in the season.
