  1. Smart move. If you are selling them to purchase a home would you be willing to risk your home in the mail? Smart choice. I would recommend though steering clear of comic book shops on the way home though. As you said this is a seller's market. Any money you spent could have gone toward... the home.
  2. There is a difference between customer service and bearing responsibility. But delivered is "delivered." Just because you claim that your $50 GI Joe figure was stolen off your porch does not always mean it was. As a buyer, I would never dream of contacting a seller after a porch pirate incident and tell the seller that they have to make me whole. I had an incident two months ago on Facebook. I sold a $25 action figure. Now the culture is very different in these groups and you are basically required to not only provide tracking but to take a picture of the label on the package to confirm that one has been printed and that the address is correct. So, I did that. I show the picture. The buyer gives me a thumbs up. After it was sent out the buyer wrote me to tell me that the address they provided in PayPal was wrong. Um... yeah... I sent a note in the mail to the same address with my contact information seeking a return and never heard from whoever received it. Whoever lives there now did god knows what with it but the buyer was out on that one. I mean what are you supposed to do with that one?
  3. People are putting things like that because people believe that if they are the victim of a porch pirate that it falls upon the seller to make it right. There was a board member here who reached out to me for advice on that. He sold something to someone and the package went missing after it was delivered. Not your problem as a seller. Sorry that crime is a problem in your area.
  4. I turned down another one a few months ago. Denied the return. eBay took my side. However, I did have a shrieking "Karen" who wanted to return something that I happily took back. She knew how to play the game well. I took it back and already resold it for more than she paid. She had to pay return shipping though. I DO know someone that recently sold a comic book though that the guy doubted the validity of the grade and eBay forced him to take it back but he is not a power seller so therein might be where the difference. I do not offer returns and that scares away a lot of the, 'wear it out and return it crowd."
  5. I am have had one book go from slightly brittle to "light tan-off white" and have had many other books go back and forth between OW-W to White and sometimes downgrade from White-Off White on a CPR or a straight resubmit. When it comes to the OW-W vs White, I truly believe that there is an even more significant number of people are no longer bothered by an OW-W designation especially as there seem to be a lot of variances coming out of CGC. I guess it is a we shall see thing.
  6. You will not have much of a choice in that matter since there are other people who may have the same book queued in their auction schedule. I am sure CLink is currently sitting on multiple Hulk 181's and ASM 300's to auction off. If you notice in the last auction they space certain books out over the multiple sessions. There might be an ASM 300 9.0 in the copper and modern session and another ASM 300 in a 9.0 in the miscellaneous auctions toward the end.
  7. They must mean that if the buyer wins an auction but wants to bid on other auctions that the seller is running that will be ending a couple of days from now.

  10. First, congratulations. @shadroch I think has experience with things like this and I think he made mention of it once before with sending a large quantity of books to MCS. Also I would call comiclink to see if they are doing any shows in the area that would make it reasonable to attend the show and pass them off to them directly. I have done that before at NYCC.
  11. k that makes sense then - thanks
  12. What's weird is that 1 minute after I posted this at 7:32 PM I received an email from CGC at 7:33 of an acknowledgement of it being received now on 5/10/21. The previous received date was 2/18/21 So does that mean that the "received date" has changed? Was the book even signed or does this now mean that the box was finally opened? Is anyone familiar with what this means?
  13. I was actually going to hit the trophy like, but I thought this post deserved the rare 5 Emoticon Response and wanted to do my part to make that happen. Good job.
  14. At least I have my passport. And my comiclink purchases are set to arrive tomorrow so at least there is that.
  15. It looks like the only mistake he made was listing it in Bronze Age Sci Fi / horror instead of Copper Age / Modern Sci Fi Horror. Many times, eBay draws in books from outside the field. In this case they took the X and Man of X-O Manowar and looped it into an X-Men search. eBay search engine is weird like that. I have noticed that if I have a string of words, say, "1998 Lego Train Station" I will yield a different number and set of results than if I search, "Lego Train Station 1998" or another rearrangement.
  16. There have been plenty of dealers that have not been sending books in to any grading company over the years. I have mostly seen this with mid grade books as grading would unnecessarily cut into their profit margins. Despite what the Facebook groups want people to believe there is no reason to slab 5.0-7.5 copies of non key ASM Silver. I remember last being at NYCC and seeing copies of ASM 28 in the 4.0-5.5 range ungraded in Reece's bins. This past fall I purchased raw copies of earlier ASM Goblin issues. I don't know if there is an increase in traffic to go to other companies but there are a lot of books that go ungraded and with a price hike and increase in turnaround times, I suspect that there will be a lot more. Also keep in mind that slabs are a lot more cumbersome to take back and forth to shows than a box of raw books.
  17. Girl at work invited us all to go camping around ten years ago but she warned everyone that the could not go if they sleepwalk or roll around too much in their sleep. You see, you would be camping on elevated platforms because the place at night was littered with alligators or crocodiles or whatever else it was. A few people went. Not for me. My version of camping is when I fall asleep on the train.
  18. I dunno. The book I sold on eBay for $325 today I purchased for $40 on Comiclink last August. Also there was a recent post about why Captain America Comics go for a premium on eBay. I stand by the belief that there is an eBay audience that does not see certain types of books and do not shop anywhere else. I mean it's crazy. Look on GPA and you will see that a sale for a Batman 52 in a 2.5 with Slightly Brittle Pages that sold for $1200 two years ago. That was my sale. I would never get away with that price on Comiclink or any other comic site. Higher grade copies, even in this market have recently sold for less. There are certain crowds that visit certain venues and on those venues some are willing to pay more than others.
  19. I have never understood camping. Why would anyone want to practice being homeless?
  20. Hah. I got a few texts this evening about mind blowing sales. Someone paid over $20k for an AF15 in 1.5. That's all fine and dandy unless this is just a hint of inflation. I don't need comics. I do need gas and milk so hopefully what we are seeing with comics is not a foreshadowing of things to come in all other areas.
  21. They know what they are doing when they are buying it so the item must be worth it to them to follow through with it. The last two sales I had using GSP was a Star Wars vehicle and figure for $90 + Whatever fees eBay threw on + shipping to the buyer and the comic which was $325 + GSP fees and shipping. I am sure that GSP turned away a few buyers and I have had people in the past ask me if I would sell outside of GSP. When it comes to international fees and eBay I have to preserve my interests. I cannot 'hope' that customs won't delay a package. I cannot 'hope' that someone in the customs chain won't steal a package. If the buyer wants the item that badly they will buy the item as provided by GSP. If they do not want to do that they can find a seller that can provide what they are looking for through the way that they want to pay. I know it sounds arrogant and I know it sounds obnoxious but it is what it is and I have seen too much trouble with international sales to do it any other way.
  22. I feel the same. 2021 is the year of the purge as far as I am concerned. I had an awakening and looked around and said, "What is the purpose of all of this?" So far I am down 4x 25gallon rubbermaids, 3 short boxes of comics and various other drawers of stuff. I am going through clothes and everything. After this year, I will very likely take a complete year off from buying AND selling anything. Refresh and reevaluate and all that.
  23. Shipping is on the buyer and that is between the GSP and the buyer. From what I hear it is costly. I only see the shipping rate and receive funds for shipping to Kentucky from NY. Buyer's complain because they pay more if the seller opts into the GSP. What they need to understand is that due to package theft and other variables, there are many sellers that will not sell without the protection that the GSP offers sellers.
