  1. I am putting things back together... most construction around here is finishing... It seems I got #14 either last week or two weeks ago.
  2. I may or may not be one of the people now silently watching this thread so I can get a copy of every post sent to my email before the whole thread gets nuked.
  3. You are late by about two beers, a day, and a Comicdonna.
  4. Hm - even though you cancelled you are still entitled to the issue. So, if I get it, you will. I might maintain the subscription. I’ve been amused by it to be honest.
  5. Actually I have something going on that I have knots in my stomach over and it’s not allowing me to sleep.
  6. Yeah ... my mind is mush - too much computer time
  7. I don't get that. What do you mean? Are you being serious? Because wouldn't it have the same coverage of new color on it whether it was black or silver? My eyes are killing me after doing what I just did btw... so I might have an internet fog over this.
  8. Not so much here... what I describe is good business sense. Let's make believe I was still chasing after an ASM run of AF15-ASM100 and annuals. If I was publicly following a thread and someone saw that I needed a few books in my run that they were listing, they might list it at a slightly stronger price seeing that the guy that really wants the book, wants it enough to follow the thread. This was something that was taught to me by a couple of board members when I joined. Don't play your cards. When I joined there was no function like we have so it was suggested to save the individual's sales thread as a bookmark in the browser and not to post something like "popcorn" or "following" if you were looking for anything of value or rarity.
  9. I silently follow FS threads sometimes. No one needs to know what I am watching or looking for. I will use a book like NM98, a book I have never owned a copy of, nor see myself owning a copy of as an example. Make believe someone is listing a few copies of NM98 and I am in the market, I might 'follow' the thread by tagging myself in it without anyone seeing I am monitoring the sale of NM98's. I have done that when people list publishers, titles or for certain sellers I like to follow. I don't like people knowing my buying business if I can help it.
  10. Here is why... The book was at one point, dollar bin fodder the same way that Ultimate Fallout 4 was. Harley Quin made her comic debut in BM Adventures 12 which was marketed toward kids. Adults were not paying a lot of attention to the book. The book eventually was thrown in dollar bins which is why high grade copies are not usually seen as often. The character pops and people gravitate toward the comic release. To me? I've never regarded the book as her first appearance. I am still trying to find the pencils or a full animation cel from her first appearance in the cartoon, "Joker's Favor" which aired a year before BM Adventures 12. Once I started to look for cels or pencils from that episode I have never seen a single one on the market.
  11. I've been debating this set... I want it... but do I "need" it. There is nothing wrong with it... I absolutely love it... just trying to figure out how I would incorporate it into m Lego city... If I did ever get it... I might build a base around it to conceal the "Upside Down" world unless you saw it from behind. ... like building a slope to the rest of the city. Right now I am at wit's end. They did the bathroom but were off by a bit so my toilet is too close to the wall. Like... you can nap against the wall by tilting you head and leaning in, that's how close it is. Office is not getting done for awhile until I am finished dealing with this... Then... then I am looking for ideas.
  12. Do my eyes deceive me?!?!?! Nice pickup Pete.
  13. I don’t place a lot of value on them to be honest. A lot of things that the high end MOC collectors try to promote fall flat. As they are discovering elbow cracks occur from age and pressure on the rivet and there is nothing that can be done. I asked this very question to one of them on FB and he refused to answer me. Say you buy two AFA graded figures. They are the same grade and the same eye appeal. Make believe you paid $1,000 for each. They are equal figures and hold equal value. One day the rubber band snaps and the figure is a pile of parts sealed on a bubble. If you put both figures on the shelf for the same price which one do you think will sell first? If you say the unbroken one (and rightfully so) then why would the broken figure hold the same value? Every MOC Joe collector is playing with hot potato whether they care to admit it or not. Prices will rise on unbroken figures but eventually everyone will end up with sealed parts jumbled around a bubble. I do not ever recommend buying MOC Joes.
  14. It becomes collectable by desire in this case and by the fact that people want it for their already collected collections (I know I am not wording that right) I don't feel like taking it out right but for some reason I am fascinated by this Star Wars character. I never had the character as a kid but as an adult I have collected all sorts of things related to him when I get the chance. I have an original figure on card AFA graded... but I also "collected" the character and paid more for certain things after they were no longer being produced because I missed the boat. I missed the Gentle Giant Oversized release of the Kenner figure so I paid a premium to secure one. I bought the Funko Pop from Amazon for $8. I opened it and threw away the box and it is now on a shelf. However, if I missed the Funko pop release I would have gladly paid up to about $20 for it. I like the character and wanted it. It's the same thing really with anything. If you want it, and someone else has it, and you cannot get it anywhere else, then be prepared to pay a premium. Is the first appearance of Miles Morales not a collectable? People were paying $1,000 each for that book in a 9.8. Is the first appearance of Spider-Gwen a collectable? People want it, they aren't in production... people have got to have it. This is basic supply and demand. Like I said, I don't think you get toy collecting. It's slightly different from Comic Collecting. It's a different that what you are used to with comics. For example, if you replace the staples on a comic book with new staples that is seen as restoration. If you replace the black rubber band on a GI Joe figure that holds the figure together, even if it is a slightly different gauge, it is not only NOT seen as restoration, it is seen as necessary. You are approaching this from a comic book collecting standpoint. It really does not apply. If you miss the boat you have to pay extra to get make your way and catch up.
  15. Again, not really... because there are many Funko pops that were widely released and only had one version that could easily be found. However, once they were no longer produced, the value increased as more people wanted it. Basically demand picked up as people missed the boat. This is not a criticism but I don't think you are familiar with collectable toys. I guess these are a cross between comics and toys in a way.
  16. Maaaaaaaaaybe.... I said the same thing as well until it was pointed out that there are many regular releases that have value because they are retired. They were also smart enough to go for pop culture licenses to sustain their desirability. So while, Beanie Babies focused on different pattern frogs of their own design or unicorns or bears or whatever, Funko focuses on Star Wars, Star Trek, Comic Book characters... all of which already have a collector base. They took on properties like Harry Potter and Stranger things and Rick and Morty where people were hungry for merchandise. The only thing that Funko is really making on their own is Freddy Funko. All of their other products are licensed and are of properties that people were already collecting. So... if you were unto Beanie Babies you tried to get all the bears or all of a release or anything that was said to be valuable. If you were into Funko then you wanted the entire LOST set. I missed the boat on Baloo the Bear which was one of the favorite Disney characters. Funko only made one of those and the aftermarket price has increased because it is a desired piece of merchandise of a desired Disney character. Same as comic books in a way when you think of it.
  17. There is a difference between censoring and universally adhering to guidelines. I know where you are going with this. I disagree with you. If you are truly right this will be challenged and they will lose special tax status. I doubt that will happen and if it does it will be challenged and those that took away the special tax status will lose.
  18. Something i learned today from one of the Lego groups. Do you see that white sticker on the box? That is to cover up the European markings. Apparently the supply chain for Lego had broken down so severely with local factories and distribution centers in NA that these were sourced from overseas to fulfill orders. Many Long Island Target and Walmart stores have a very thinning Lego offering.
  19. I am in the middle of doing an online workshop type of thing where we have to identify ourselves... It is one of those things that we all know that no one is ever going to read so we are all having some fun with it. Question: How do you feel about your name? Has your relationship with your name changed over time? (50 words) Answer: I honestly do not think of it. I did not ask for the name I was given, but it was given nonetheless, and with it I have done my best. I don't have a relationship with it. It is my name. It's what my parents decided to call me since they liked the sound of it. I figured I would paraphrase Mr Eko.
  20. There are a few that I have for 'me'. I love the Robby the Robot one on my desk, as well as Momaw Nadon from Star Wars... I have a few others as well. However I have also sold them when the money seems right. I have no problem going and getting some convention exclusives to flip for ridiculous sums. I bought the Mandalorian convention exclusive for $15. I sold it on eBay last month for $300. My only regret was that I did not wait even longer because prices on it got soft as I sold it and then shot back up again as a few more sold at the $375-400 mark. To each their own. Remember... all of us are collecting old newsprint for large sums of money that could be read at ease for $2 on an iPad.
