Those are all really great pieces. Most commissions nowadays have really been just sketches or single character pieces or something without backgrounds. It is refreshing to still be seeing fully-rendered cover-quality commissions like the ones you have just posted. Those are truly awesome! Wow!

This is not a new acquisition but just an "update". I just found out that the Curt Swan Superman piece I own came from a comic which actress Brooke Shields was reading. I posted this in another thread but it might be buried there and it also seems more relevant for this thread so I hope you can forgive me for this repost: ------------------ Let me share my first-hand story about "that feeling I got." In April 2012 was around a time I was just getting in comic art collecting. I saw this auction on eBay and just like with every auction, I always save the image to so I can scrutinize it more thoroughly and zoom in using different Photoshop filters to really appreciate the art. So this was the cover I was chasing AS POSTED ON EBAY. I was the underbidder in this auction and the piece went for just over $800, which is fair. Even though it was a published cover, it was a recreation of a Sekowsky image from that era, and had no backgrounds and a lot of whiteout below Batman's feet. I finally saw it in the Cool Lines site, and it was "modified". I think it is still there now. Here is how it looks now: It seems like they added the backgrounds manually (check how bad the circle in the background looks) when there really was supposed to be no backgrounds because it was done digitally. Even the logo was "pasted on" to the board. So the page does not resemble anything close to the original page offered in the eBay auction anymore. As for the clincher? In April 2012, it went for $800. In January 2014, Cool Lines email that it is $5,450 but on sale now for $4,450!!! So to those who say you can expect it advertised for 3x the price after you are the underbidder, then you are wrong! It will be 5x the price and significantly altered! Here you go, going clockwise: There you go. It's actually a 360 degree view and this area is actually my bedroom. If you look at one of the pics there are two blank spaces above one of the doors. I have two pieces coming in, hopefully this week. And I have the frames ready so I just have to do it myself and I will be posting an update soon.

I couldn't make out the bottom right cover so I checked your CAF and it's Bolland Camelot 3000! Wow! I don't mean to offend you but pic quality isn't too good. Would love to see more high res-pics of your collection. I also see that you have a Crisis cover. I'd love to see a pic of that framed. I think you can tell from my collection that I'm more of a DC guy and not Marvel so I'd love to see more of your DC stuff!

One more corner in the room I forgot to take a picture of! These are the oversized frames: The DC Comics Guide To Digitally Drawing Comics by Freddie Williams, JLA 147 Cover Reimagination by original series inker Frank McLaughlin Since it was a process drawing, Freddie did the pencils and inks on separate board. He also sent me the file with digital colors - the problem being I could only fit his art in an old frame of mine that used to house a double page splash that I have since moved. Maybe someday I will make a new frame with the two original pieces and the print with the digital colors - all in the same size. We will see about that. Thank you and one of my favorites here for sure.

That is the point - I'm trying not to have stuff in my portfolio although I have a few. I'm trying to dispose of my non vital art and keep the frameworthy ones. Slowly evolving my collecting habits to "go for gold". Thanks for the kind comments.

I just upgraded all my framed art to non-glare glass. It was a chore because I manually did it myself - didn't trust having them all out of my possession at once. I thought of resurrecting this thread since the comments above are what inspired me to re-create that iconic cover in 11x17 board. I have no regrets adding those stats, especially on the Superman piece. It really makes Superman stand out more as opposed to just blending in with the rocks.

My latest addition is not quite comic art but is the closest thing to a "jam" as I can get that features Superman and Batman's creators. To have Siegel, Shuster, and Bob Kane write on the same page is a thing to marvel at (no pun intended). I started in the hobby out of nostalgia. I went with this interior page from Action 599, a comic I bought as a kid in my first ever vacation outside my country. It is Ross Andru pencils and John Byrne inks. Looking back, it is not the best page but it is the one that started it all. DC's Super Powers toyline was a comic I read and a toy I played with as a kid. So I bought an interior page from that issue. Then I saw on CAF the *last* page of that same issue. I commented and joked to the owner (since I was sure it was a grail) that if he was willing to let it go, I would be interested. It was a longshot and just a lukewarm offer since I already had a nice example interior page from that issue. Lo and behold, the owner eventually remembered my comment, sent me a private message that he was selling it. I was jumping for joy! It was my personal grail - pure Kirby pencils, Kirby's last sequential page ever drawn for DC, and features ALL of the Super Powers good guys from the toyline. I could not believe it was available. I am still in shock I own this page! Even though I also do my own digital coloring, it is always a treat to see how other artists do it - especially if they are pros. Chris Ivy recently colored this piece which I pencilled and Mike DeCarlo inked. It is my vision of what ought to have been the cover to Legion of Super-Heroes 38 back in 1987 which was the Death of Superboy. Since I already have published the inked art in my CAF page, I just updated the additional images to include the colored art. Once again, thanks to Chris Ivy for this commission!
