  1. Seriously, did we start popping up at the top of Google searches for where to sell comics? I feel like the first time posters/sellers here are more craigslist-y than in the past...
  2. has he had ANY completed purchases w/o this move? Anyone? Looks like hes made 4 purchases since joining the boards on 5/27. 5/27 sold two raw Green Lanterns for to divad 6/1 sold Deadpool run for to c-mack 6/14 bought IC#4 and DCUOnline (slabs) from Darrell F (paypal dispute) 6/14 bought DD#8 CGCed from Gary Strange 6/21 bought Daredevil lot from rsortor 6/24 bought Thor #337 CGCed from Ghost Town
  3. As many have noticed (including Dr Balls) there seems to have been an influx of "new" sellers who don't bother to read the rules before posting in the Marketplace (many of which end up reading like craigslist drek listings). There will always be new people, and always be some who miss the guidelines, but wouldn't it make sense to post the guidelines at the top of each of the three forums (G/S/B, Copper/Modern, Mixed/Other)? I know on my monitor the Marketplace Guidelines link is right at the bottom of the monitor (and the full post link is below it) so its easy to miss. If it was "stickied" at the top of each sub-forum it would be the top of the stack, and just centimeters from the button sellers push to post a new thread. Any reason not to do this?
  4. I've heard some people say that priority mail boxes arent handled any better/worse than other mail shipments so why pay for the more expensive shipping on books that you dont care if they are there fast or not? Here's why: You want to get your books thru the gauntlet that is the postal system as quickly as possible. Its not that they are cared for more or less, its that they spend less time in an environment/system that does not really care about the condition of the thing you are sending, just getting it there. So get it into and back out of the system as quickly as possible to mitigate risk.
  5. Hope Miamiknight3434 made good on his other sales purchases, he did send payment to me over the weekend for an "I'll Take it" , so he's met his obligation to me (hope he's doing so for all others too).

  7. I didnt know they slabbed books that thick! I've seen some TPBs slabbed, but those were much thinner (like 120-160 pages). That international Spidey 252 is THICK!
  8. if you write about it... it will happen... I've heard people say that if you write about something you intend to do, you are more likely to accomplish your goal. So with my first con season approaching after my discovery of CGC and the signature series I've set some goals for my (likely) 1 day foray to Dragon*con at the end of August. With a 3 year old, a full time job, and a wife who travels internationally at the drop of a hat (thanks federal government!) I can usually only chisel out time for 1 day at a con, so I have to set some realistic but very targeted goals. Currently the Dragon*con's main talent of interest is Jim Starlin and George Perez. George was at the con last year, but with all of the Avengers and Infinity Gauntlet hype I assume that both of these talents will be in constant demand. Other talent at the show includes Dave Johnson (who has done great work on Deadpool) and Dustin Nguyen who created some amazing covers to one of my favorite titles Batgirl (Stephanie Brown version). There's also Tim Sale and others, but their work doesnt direcly overlap with my interests (though time permitting a little Sale sketch would be amazing. Im going to use this journal (posted over to the CGC boards) to post my planned signature goals, and then follow the submission process right to the bitter, waiting for the mail end of it all. Time is running out for me today, so I will post more later, and show some of my first SS planned pieces. -miraclemet To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 9. Did you think about just making a $100 offer on the whole box once you saw a few "hits"? (assuming he/she charged you $2 per book you would have come out even further ahead). I find a lot of times people like the clean sweep offer even if its for less money total just to get it sold. Plus there's something about offering $100 that makes people jump..
  10. My first Mag.... I love these Spirit Magazine covers, the colors are just great...
  11. If Thanos appeared in a Walking Dead comic would the Marketplace forums implode?
  12. Just won my first CGCed magazine on ebay. I've loved these painted spirit covers since I first laid eyes on them... cant wait to have it in hand...
  13. uh oh this is headed towards something that came up in another CG thread...
  14. for some reason I hear Liam Neeso in Taken during this.. ... what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you....
  15. damn allergies... it got dusty up in here real fast...
  16. they look like regular picture frame holders (some stores call them easels) I see them at Michael's all the time.
  17. the bidding account activity doesnt look shilly... it looks under-used (its the only auction he bid on in the last month) but maybe he/she's just a high grade duck collector and he doesnt have a lot of holes to fill? price seemed to fall in line with gpa of other books around it grade wise. Sparklecity auctions seem to get lots of attention so its unlikely to lead to a "deal" cause theres always someone else out there looking for a deal too... Maybe this guy owns a higher grade version of the book and was "price supporting" his own book (seen that done before), or maybe he owns a lower grade book that he's trying to help inflate that price... all speculation, in the end it doesnt look like a shill account (multiple auctions with same seller, rarely winning, only bidding on one seller's auctions)... just an infrequent one.
  18. Picked up my third Lady in White in the Dark Mansions of Forbidden Love line from Cimm and have almost a full set now! some great greytone action
