  1. The spine was as you can guess the main color touch culprit. That black line going down the edge of the cover is just to tempting for a sharpie I guess. Here are the shots with the removal of the CT. As expected. the boot was the longest line of touch, with a decent bit up at the top of the sine as well. One small chunk out of The Punisher's forearm at the spine.
  2. Fedex just stoped by, here are the results... Grader Notes: light spine stress lines breaks color small crease right top of back cover small piece out right bottom of front cover small scuff left bottom of front cover And the money shot: CGC 7.0 SS Romita/Thomas/Conway
  3. Book should arrive on Monday.... Very curious to see how it looks and how extensive the scraping was.
  4. Yeah that's the worry and the risk. If it was pro color touch i wouldnt be up at night thinking about it.
  5. So here we are. The experiment. Buy a color touch (C1) book, get the color touch removed and see how much of a grade drop it gets as a result. Doing this with a Sig Series book since some of the books value exists outside of the book condition but with who signed it, lets see if this helps me still come out ahead. The book in question is a CGC SS 9.0 ASM 129 with 3 signatures (Romita/Thomas/Conway) Paid $900 which seemed ok in terms of GPA. I know that it's gonna drop in grade because in order to remove the color touch they will have to scrape it off. The hope is it stays above a 6.5 which for me would be break even.
  6. Mechanical Error fix (2 books, label swap) 8/25 Shipped via FedEx 8/28 Arrived at CGC 9/2 Marked as Recieved Restoration Removal/Clean & Press/Regrade 8/25 Shipped via USPS Priority 8/27 Arrived at CGC 9/2 Marked as Recieved 9/18 Grading/Quality Control 9/23 Shipped Reholder (hopefully) for Pedigree Label 8/25 Shipped via USPS Priority 8/27 Arrived at CGC 9/2 Marked as Recieved 9/14 Marked as Grading / Quality Control 9/21 Shipped 9/22 Received How in the world are the mechanical errors taking the longest?!?! They flipped two of my labels from my last order and they said to send back and they'd fix, and those are taking the longest... Even got a book through restoration removal/press and grade faster.
  7. I assume it's cause a) the thicker glossy paper holds up better so the books have longer shelf life at retailers. b) sticking to one paper stock is cheaper and easier for the printers (to them a Golden Age Omnibus is the same thing as a modern omnibus, just with the extra headache of having to do remastering of the original art files since they're working from copies of copies of copies. The extra production overhead already eats into their profits on the volumes.
  8. Back from CGC and now in a pedigree noted slab. Camp code 4xv
  9. Previously unlabeled/unnoted Okajima pedigree camp era comic, is now in a pedigree labeled slab.
  10. Thought about that one too, but the Golden Age stuff always seems to eventually pop up in a 50% off bin somewhere.
  11. Got my 5YL Omnibus, no problem. Anyone pick up anything else?
  12. Isn't the Legion 5 Years Later Omnibus coming out today? When does IST update their website?
  13. Ok so i lived in Europe for a couple of years recently and grew to love the Euro art style and of course Moebius who I had already appreciated after reading The Incal. I just acquired this Moebius sketch in one of his hardcover art books and couldnt be more thrilled. To me he's the European Jack Kirby. Anyone else have a Meobius sketch or page?
  14. I guess its the risk imbalance. Seller is risking $150 profit buyer is risking $350 loss If it was $250 both ways I wouldnt bat am eye at it.
  15. So wait. I can pay $350 over market for the chance to maybe come out $150 ahead in a few months? I of course had to be snarky and ask if there was a return option if it stayed a 9.6 on regrade.
  16. Just seconding/thirding whats been said here. The cost of AFA style grading/encapsulation is not worth it for MOCs in this condition. The yellowing is a deal breakers for some collectors which also keeps value down. Check ebay completed sales of similar condition examples to see market value. The Bossk is great, and the yellowing isnt TOO far along yet, so maybe proper storage may slow the yellowing any further....
  17. Im hoping it does well enough to get a new Gringots made that will fit in with it along with a few more shops. Gonna save this one for Christmas time to do as a family.
  18. at most I might leave him a note (not in feedback, just a note) saying that he should probably photo or mention this type of case damage cause other buyers care. More cautionary so the next buyer (who has more particular needs) doesnt get disappointed.
  19. Am I the only one who doesnt give a flipin flap about case condition? As long as it's still structurally intact I dont care. LIke if there was a big scratch down the back, and they had only posted a front picture, I'd shrug and move on...
  20. I couldnt not buy it. Harry Potter was a HUGE thing for my daughter, and now she's starting to out grow it (11 YO tweener now) so Diagon alley makes me nostalgic for those trips to Wizarding World in Orlando.. *sigh*
