  1. Thanks, ASMguyyy. Yes indeedy, the comics, art, toys, etc. all belong to me. I gave credit to my buddy for his Eye magazine piece, as I used to own that, but it's "slipped away", with the passage of time, as have some other items in my collection. I shudder every time I consider moving from CT, as I have too much "stuff". ! I think I've just been lucky, Hawk. And I had an ex-librarian Granny, who taught me to carefully read books, comics, etc., and who also kept records of every thing. I blame here for my being so anal about everything. (thumbs u
  2. If I understand your question junk, I was requesting that Mr. Ditko sign my copy of Spidey #14.It's a favorite issue, as well as a early Hulk appearance. Completely agree, Shark. I honestly thought it would generate more interest in a thread devoted to Ditko, that's all. And it's definitely a great thing to own.
  3. Sweet lookin' Spidey #1, Junk. Thanks, Hawk, and Point. I've shown my note to a few folks in our hobby (Bashara Malouf, Brad Savage, and a couple others, who were surprised to see an actual response from Mr. Ditko. There's a Ditko thread in General Comics, which has already fallen to page 2, where I posted the note, with this commentary. "I wrote to Mr Ditko in 1991, when I was writing comics for Revolutionary. My editor gave me his address in NYC, as they were negotiating with him to do some art for a book. He warned me not to expect a reply. I wrote to him none- the-less. Several weeks passed with no reply. Then one Saturday morning, my SAS envelope returned to me with the enclosed note." I was surprised the note generated such little interest in that thread, as both Bashara, and Brad said they'd never seen a hand-written note from Mr. Ditko, in all their years of collecting/buying and selling.
  4. Thanks for the link. That is a nice looking page for sure. I'll bookmark it, and use the final selling price as an indication of the value of my page.
  5. 1956. Probably a stretch, I guess. The era twixt the Golden/Silver Age is called the Atomic Age?
  6. Yep! Some of my favorite covers too, and the back-up Tales of Asgard, was/is still one of my favorites. Kirby's story-telling artwork was never better on that mini-strip. Thanks for the tip, BillC. I kinda' looked, but didn't see any JIM 112 art. I did see other Kirby work, exceeding several thousand dollars. I think I need to insure my artwork for a bit more. ! And again, truly magnificent examples of early JIM comics. Well done folks! And good morning all!
  7. See! I told ya' they don't lend themselves to photos after framing.
  8. Yeah, ! I own 3 more of the 3rd eye posters, including Odin resurrecting the goddess Hela, a sweet splash page from Doc Strange called Eternity, and an even sweeter splash from the FF, showing Silver Surfer in the micro-verse. Those are now framed, and do not take well to photographic reproduction. !!
  9. Thanks, Hawkman. I dunno' Mark 1. I never really pondered that question. To me it's priceless. It's original Kirby art, from an iconic comic, signed by Chic Stone. The first full Hulk/Thor battle, and Odin /Asgard is prominently featured too.
  10. Yeah, what Torchie said, regarding the popularity/intro's of FF v X-Men. As he said too, FF began the re-birth of at Marvel Comics. I'd also mention that FF 25-26 contained the 2nd and 4th Cap appearances. I collected X-Men while Kirby was artist, but dropped it after his departure. Did that too with The Avengers. Good morning, all.
  11. Good morning. The Spidey #1 is an upgrade, Hawkman23. I mentioned in a post that my friend owned a comic shop within miles of my home. The posted Spidey came into his shop years ago. He alerted me to it, and I traded my original off-the-rack F copy, plus some cash, for the copy in the scan. He resold my original quickly due to the lower price, and I got a nicer copy in the deal. Everyone was happy! !
  12. That's a beautiful copy of #94, trmoore54. (thumbs u
  13. Here is my copy of FF #1. As you can see, it's the Golden Record reprint, which I as a kid, added the number 1, and the 10 cent price tag. Some background. My Father read war comics, and had bought comics during the "Golden Age". His favorite character was the Sub-Mariner. I read some of his Star Spangled War Stories during the early 60's, but one day he brought home FF #4, because of the Subby appearance. I was hooked on Marvel thereafter. Lacking #'s 1-3, and because I lived in a remote area on an island off the coast of CT, I had no comic shops/back issues. In late 1965, I found the Golden Record set in a local Woolworth's, and bought it. Realizing it was different in appearance, I made the "necessary" modifications. I have never felt the need to replace it, with the original. I'll tell the tale(s) of the Lee & Kirby sigs, on another occasion.
  14. Yeah, I'm sure it would fit easily into a mag size mylite.
  15. Thanks, namisgr. It's a prized piece of my collection.
  16. Many truly sweet copies of one of my most favorite titles. I'm fortunate enough to own original artwork from ish #67.
  17. I agree, that would be a very tough decision to sell your collection for a nice Avengers # 1. Thank you for your kind remarks about my comics. Good morning!
  18. Many of the comics in my collection, were purchased off the spinner rack, many, many moons ago, ASMguyyy. I have upgraded some comics, from time-to-time, as finances allowed, but truly not in the past 15 years or so. I have picked-up some EC's on eBay within the past decade, but haven't posted those yet, as I haven't found an EC thread. (I haven't looked through-out this site) As I already have most Silver Marvels, I now collect interesting covers from random comics. It was a big help, that my friend Bob, owned Sarges Comics in the nearby town, for 20 years.
