  1. In today: A small batch of Ace D-series books. The D-121 is a much needed upgrade to my earlier copy:
  2. I posted the full set over in the EC thread, but I figure the group should be seen here as well:
  3. In today. Again, calling on my fellow club members to keep us on the front page, we slipped again. Only need the Mandrake #4 to finish my run:
  4. Such a crazy title, going from Saturn Science Fiction to Saturn Web Detective to Web Detective to Web Terror... Here's an issue from its earlier incarnation with a Heinlein story:
  5. That's as good an example of any as to what I was referring to, @Axe Elf. I can see it not bugging others as much as it did me. And it's not so much that my problem was "he looks like Tracy", it was more "he looks off to me" and that was the best way I figured to describe the issue after the fact. I tried to avoid spoilers in my comments, but the lack of anything supernatural was what I was trying to hint at with my "well-executed twists" comment. It's a noir mystery using the fact we expect the supernatural in context to hide the twists. I think quite a lot of Manga artists manage 20-30 pages a week over long periods of time; but generally they use quite a few assistants to do it. Not sure how fast Kim would be if he was drawing it entirely on his own.
  6. Agreed, that one was mind blowing. A little searching suggests its history is more complicated that you might expect... but the title was always controversial. @jimjum12, I sincerely appreciate you sharing that one... but unlike many covers here, I have no need to see it again.
  7. I would say "our work here is done", but in reality it continues day by day in this thread...
  8. I don't have that one would be why. But it's going on the list for sure...
  9. We should put together a list of Fridge Magnet books one of these years, a lot of those round logo Avons would make the list.
  10. Is Panic #1 heating up for some reason? Someone posted they were looking for a copy in the Want to Buy threads, and I thought I could track one down quickly. But a check on eBay shows that a copy missing a back cover went for $79 and a 1.5 for $179. For ages it was a book you could get a decent mid-grade copy cheap.
  11. I do need to track those down one of these years... I do have this, though: I wonder why the US never really tried Muppet Comics until the mid-80's? When we were looking for the first US Muppet comic these were about the best we could find, parody or serious:
  12. I have no idea who you're referring to. Should we call the Doctor? It was your Lord Grade who had the good sense to finance Henson making the Muppet Show. Given how much joy just that has given me over the years I'll forgive you any number of things. Admittedly, burning down the White House a second time would be pushing things...
  13. Any other thread on these forums, I would read "nice" as dripping with epic amounts of sarcasm in this context. This thread, we mean it unironically. You're a wonderful bunch of comic loving geeks to hang out with and I'm happy you've accepted me here even if I am a Yank.
  14. I don't own a selfie stick. I'm leaning towards something like this, and then an actual group shot of the spines: Only, of course, there will be about nine images like that...
  15. In today. Only 1 D-series SF double to go, and it's on order. Already trying to figure out how to manage a group shot:
  16. Copy #4, courtesy of an assorted lot from @ft88's recent sale. It wasn't the reason I grabbed the lot, but the fact I have no immediate intentions of unloading any of my copies suggests that I may be hoarding this issue:
  17. I'll think about it more and post later if others don't beat me to it, but the obvious changes to me would be "Vintage PB's", to avoid confusion with comic TPB's, and possibly "non-comic magazines" rather than "other magazines".
  18. I can try to find what box this one is in and rescan it if you were interested in working on it, Darwin.
  19. Trying to find issues of “West” with the Zorro stories can be a pain as well. Some names were just never designed with internet searches in mind.
  20. Agreed that a separate forum would be useful, with the same caveat that they should still be allowed in GSB as well. I would also suggest that it should be made explicit that paperback sales could be in the pulp section as well, if it does get created.
  21. A couple issues of Amazing from @Randall Dowling's recent sale:
