  1. (Searches old emails for a few minutes...) They were all mail order, all but the Batman 86 were found on eBay. The Super-Heroes Annual 1984 was from Australia, the Superman 1985 and Batman 1985 were both from the UK, the Superman 1986 was from the US, and the Batman 1986 was from the US, found on Abebooks.
  2. I don't know if I actually have any "greatest hits" in the comic magazine department; just a decent assortment of US and even UK books, largely reading copies. But, since I was making noises about posting the Epic Illustrated run, I might as well put it here. Once again, quite a few of these are clearly readers, although it's got its share of nice copies as well: Frazetta/ Corben/ Gulacy
  3. They are. The 1985 is even signed by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez on an interior page. When I had him sign it he said he had actually never seen the book before. I also have the 85/86 Superman Annuals and this one, which also has a Moore story:
  4. I know the 1985 and 1986 annuals are tricky because Alan Moore has a story in the 1985 issue and Grant Morrison has one in the 1986 issue.
  5. Maybe I should just create an Epic Illustrated thread and post all the covers...
  6. The movie tie-in mention is interesting, at least. Probably means that copy is from 1947... which would be a wonderful reference point for any other publisher, but pocket was actually good about printing information! My copy; stated first, slightly better shape... but not a lot:
  7. My sister asked me not to visit her next month due to COVID concerns, so I won't be getting to Kayo during my visit. Happy to know it's still there through this mess, at least. I've show these over and over, but here are a couple I picked up last time I got there, in case anybody doubts how awesome a store it is:
  8. Nothing huge today... but it's fun to get a book by "A. A. Fair", not "Erle Stanley Gardner writing as..." Does anybody know when the Lam & Cool books started being published with Gardner's name on the cover as well for the first publication?
  9. Nice! I know that you had been looking for that one for a while now. It really is a stunning cover design.
  10. That makes sense. Although it still seems odd there wasn't a #1 pence version...
  11. A pair of books found at the LCS today. The stain by the lower staple on the Albedo dropped it down to an impulse buy price; the Space Usagi was 50 cents over cover:
  12. Depending on what sort of grades you want, it looks like MyComicShop has most of the Canadian variants at not too crazy prices; you might be able to knock out a lot of them at one go. They don't have either of the Canadian annual variants, though. I"m surprised there were so few Pence variants, I thought those lasted a bit later in general. But I'm very much not an expert on the subject. Are you going to try for Mark Jewelers variants as well?
  13. A stunning copy of one of the hardest digest Astoundings!
