  1. Given that I'm in the US, my collection of the UK books is limited... but not nonexistent:
  2. I've always thought this was a neat idea for a cover; it really nails the romance-comic-meets-horror effect.
  3. I posted this over in the paperback thread a few days ago... might as well share it here too:
  4. And the gem of the day: Pocket 17; stated first pocket printing. The laminate has mostly peeled off the spine but is as perfect as I've ever seen on the front and back:
  5. And, finally, a couple of pocket books. This one just has a bunch of good creators; I'm showing the back as well for the creator list:
  6. Then a couple of Ace D-series books. I'm not 100% sure I don't have one of them in storage somewhere. But they were cheap, and I find it very hard to resist Ace D-series books on my best day:
  7. Got a few today. This one is the first of the annual year's greatest SF collections. The bit I find interesting is the story by Steve Allen- I knew he was a successful writer as well as a musician/ actor/ TV host; but I didn't know he had done any Science Fiction. But there's a reason I've always thought of him as the very definition of a Renaissance Man:
  8. That's a gorgeous copy! My run tends to lower grade, as do so many of my runs... but at least it's complete.
  9. Jose Luis Garcia Lopez is an insanely underrated artist. His reputation is ironically hurt because he spent so much of his career not drawing actual comics, but doing all the art for various other merchandise for DC. He's as responsible as anybody for the look of DC in the Bronze and Copper ages.
  10. Conan the Savage, particularly the latter half of the run, is hard to track down period, not just the AUS versions. You nearly double the price-per-page compared to Savage Sword of Conan when you restart the numbering because sales were already slipping, and it seems a lot of people just don't bother. It took me quite a while to track down for such a short run.
  11. MyComicShop's handling of pulps continues to make no sense whatsoever to me. They had this as a 2.0 for $4, no picture. I figured it was worth a shot. It's a significant upgrade to my copy; and this has my vote as hardest 50's Astounding to find, even more than the October 1953 issue. It's just that most Astounding collectors don't care much about the issue other than filling the hole; but the first Dianetics means people who otherwise don't care about the title are looking for it.
  12. My copy is missing the back cover. Still crazy happy to have it at all:
  13. Trying to pick up readers of the early Moon Knight appearances.
  14. And the companion issue; it has some bumped corners but looks like it might actually be unread; the gloss is insane. I love Lone Star's grading:
  15. I showed this in the Pulp forums but I'll post it here too, even if it's a hardcover, not a paperback:
  16. OK, this is a book, not a pulp. But I still think this is the best place to show it off. Marginalia is the third Arkham House Lovecraft collection. While not as impressive as the first two (which are pretty much out of my price range), it still has a lot to recommend it. It has one story that's the first publication; The Transition of Juan Romero. It has a half-dozen stories (or fragments of stories) where it's the first professional publication rather than a fanzine or amateur magazine. It has four stories where this is the first book publication. Mostly, it's one of the early Arkham House Lovecraft collections that has never been reprinted, and it's one of the ones that's really Lovecraft, not Derleth trying to pass off his own stories as "posthumous collaborations". This is, flat out, a major addition and step up in my collection of Lovecraft and I'm insanely happy to have it.
  17. A reader pick-up today; but I figure I should fill in the early Moon Knight appearances sooner rather than later:
  18. I think #4 is the only issue of the run I have in what I could call high grade; it could use a press for some non-color-breaking dings on the spine. (although a close look suggests one or two of them do break color.)
  19. All current or recent covers... but we need some color on this page after 4 image free posts:
  20. This is actually a new comic today; but I thought people in this thread would appreciate how they recreated the look of a classic paperback. Goodness knows it was enough to get me to buy it when I don't normally bother with Director Cut comics:
