  1. First guess... and without a scan it’s purely a guess... is Canadian edition.
  2. I love that this thread has been getting some love recently. No new Kelly pickups for me recently, sadly.
  3. Today's dollar bin book. Obviously not high grade, but I can't find any reason it got dollar binned like torn or missing pages or writing:
  4. In today. Probably the rarest issue of the main MAD run.
  5. So, I think this one has fallen a bit from it's highest point on the "super major EC's list". Mad in general seems to be lower on the priority list for EC's these days, and the internet has made the book somewhat easier to find. But even if it's lower on the list... I think this is still one of the A-list EC's, a genuinely scarce book with a classic cover. Super happy to finally have a copy. 3 comic book issues of MAD to go, my plan is to finish the 1-23 run by the end of the year. I've already got 1, 2, 5, and 11, which to my mind are the tricky ones, so I think my chances are good.
  6. My last Golden Age book this year; although I did get a low grade Creepy #1 a few days later.
  7. May dig a few more Shadows out later, that's the only one I've got scanned currently.
  8. Today's random pickups. Finding old paperbacks like these in the wild, cheaper than new paperbacks, never gets old:
  9. And the last couple of issues. I really do need to fill in some of the later run more consistently, rather than just the Cole covers and some other random issues:
  10. I've always loved the composition on the Target v9 n8, it's my favorite of the Cole covers on Target:
  11. I would take a not-so-nice copy! I consider myself lucky to have a coverless copy of #5...
  12. Only pair of covers I have scanned at the moment; I'll try to get some more here quickly...
  13. Wow. I was happy getting my copy for around $25 right when it came out, and it's not in the 90% or so of variants that drop. Dollar bin for that one is INSANE.
  14. Today's pickup. Clearly a reader copy, but it looks a LOT better in person... the fading is far, far less obvious. I know the pricing on this one is odd since Warren had it available for back order for the better part of two decades. But it still feels like even a reader copy like this should be cost more than $20... Happy to have a copy, in any case!
  15. I'm torn between welcoming you to the fold and wishing you good luck, and going "Aargh! More competition for the books!" Let's go with the welcome. I think my big goal for 2020 will be finishing the run of the comic book issues of MAD, but there's a lot of other EC's I hope to make progress on as well.
  16. Not really sure. I think there's probably more interest in the wartime Canadian Docs, because the covers are different than the American editions
  17. In today. I don't suppose anybody has a definitive list of Dave's covers handy, do they? There really weren't that many...
  18. Today's book. I actually owned a copy of this one years ago, but it got sold in the "I need to pay rent" crisis about 15 years ago incident. And unlike the other EC's I sold then, which have all either been replaced or are not terribly hard issues to get when I finally decide to pull the trigger, this one seems to be picking up a bit of heat recently for the cover. So very glad to replace it now. I'm much less of a fan of the EC Horror and Crime than I am of the War/ Humor/ SF books; but I love Shock Suspenstories. And it's not because the first 11 or so issues had a SF story in them, that's normally the weakest story in the issue in most cases.
