  1. And the books showed up! The entire run, in what ranges from decent to excellent shape, for what I consider an almost embarrassingly low price. With a LOT of CAS poetry, and some essays and a story as well; and a lot of other good writers:
  2. In addition to the B&W art being amazing in Savage Sword, the format just allowed for much longer stories, which always seemed to suit Conan well. A regular comic has problems managing a 200+ page story, even now; when you only need 4 months it reads better. With luck, they will at least let Savage Sword be the "bounce around in time and artist" title; which was another strength of the book compared to the ongoing regular Conan series.
  3. Bunny to Bunny. (I had been aiming for seasonally early Bugs cover to seasonally correct Bugs cover, but @telerites beat me to the punch. But the new connection works.)
  4. Just dug out 'The Enchantress of Sylaire" on your recommendation, Pat. You're right, it's a good one. First appearance of the story, the issue is mine but the interior scan was found online. A rare Brundage interior illustration:
  5. I strongly suspect it's just a comic, sadly. I hope I'm wrong, though. Conan and the b&w magazine format just feel right together to me.
  6. I need to get that October 1932 issue... it has a HPL story (written for Hazel Heald) as well. i don’t want to jinx myself, but with luck I’ll have some mags with CAS poetry to show off in a few days
  7. Never seen any of those before, you're right when you say it's an impressive set of covers for a short run like that. Is this a bedsheet? I'm guessing since it's from Gernsback in 1930; but that's just a guess.
  8. Weird Tales to Weird Tales (but moving from Brundage to Finlay for variety)
  9. Slightly annoyed the boards will only let me “like” this once, it deserves more!
  10. Thank you for tracking that down! I wonder if I can find a copy somewhere, it looks amazing.
  11. I'm happy to have a run in any grade, they are NOT easy to find at all. Silver has some amazing copies. Grossman did the main feature on all the original run, I think the reference to Martin Naydel on one of the slabs is talking about the puzzle pages in the back. Sheldon Mayer did the art on the 70's revival once they started doing new stories; the early treasuries featured reprints (despite saying "all new" on the covers).
  12. Got an Incredible Hulk #271 for $10 a year or so ago at a HPB, roughly an 8.0. Was happy with that one. Got all the Zatanna issues with Adam Hughes covers at half cover not long ago. Got an Action #50 in GD or so for $60 a few years ago. I had to wait them out on that one, though. They had it at $300 for a year, then dropped it to $150 when it didn't sell; I was tempted at that price but was waiting for the holidays to end so I would have some cash. When I went it, it was dropped again, to $120... and they had a half off any one item sale that day. You can get some great stuff there, but their grading is frequently garbage. Still worth looking regularly.
  13. This was the last of the 1939 160 pagers I needed. It actually ran 6 issues, starting in February. They dropped the price when they dropped the page count from 25 to 15 cents.
  14. And, finally, the June-July 1939 issue. This one is just full of good stuff; including both a poem and part two of "Almuric" by Robert E. Howard; a poem and two stories by Lovecraft; and an amazing Finlay cover.
  15. Second is the May 1937 issue. Brundage again, and "The Horror in the Burying Ground" by Hazel Heald & H. P. Lovecraft, first publication.
  16. A trio of Weird Tales in today. First up, July 1934. Brundage cover, and "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" by H. P. Lovecraft and E. Hoffmann Price. I've wanted to get at least one of the Randolph Carter stories into my collection for a while now; so super happy to get this one.
  17. In today. Nothing particularly special, just a very nice (if somewhat atypical) Finlay cover. He's got a couple of interior illos as well:
  18. The latest Overstreet had this one broken out nearly as much as the #19. No question it's red hot, but is it really that high relative to the 19?
  19. Not high grade, but still a very well spent $4.25 to add this to my reader run of Deadly Hands. This issue is decidedly a pain recently. On a tangent, does anybody know why Deadly Hands 10 seems to be hot right now?
  20. I’m on a crazy tight schedule the next week and a half, but PM me with your info and I’ll get the books sent out in about a week once I have a day free. You’re welcome to the Savage Action and Conans as well, but if you don’t care I’ll keep those as a giveaway batch for somebody else.
