  1. A couple points of business. First, while I got two people applauding and one liking it, nobody actually said I'll take them to the UK mags I posted. So redefining it as just one big lot of 8 books, they're still up for grabs if anybody wants them. Second, just got a nice lot of books from @wombat, and wanted to show off the highlight from the lot, as well as shout out a huge "Thank You!"
  2. Found at a local shop today. Other than the fading, the book is structurally excellent and was only $12.99. According to the store owner, he priced it low because he didn't think any of his customers would recognize it. When I spotted it and recognized it instantly he admitted that he should have known I would have known what it was right away.
  3. Unfortunately, I'm not on twitter and for personal reasons refuse to join. If somebody else asks I would love to hear the answer, though. Thanks to everybody for their replies.
  4. Free for the asking: 2 small lots of Marvel UK Magazines from the 80's, reading copies. Lot #1: Savage Action #13, Marvel Super Heroes #385, Mighty World of Marvel #14 and #15. All 4 issues have Night Raven text stories; the last 3 have Alan Davis Captain Britain stories. Lot #2: Savage Sword of Conan (UK edition) #85, #86, #90, #92. All 4 issues have Night Raven text stories. First person to ask for them gets them; if you want both pick which one you want more and if nobody asks for the second one in 48 hours you can have that as well. I'll pay shipping to the US; I'm willing to ship international but you'll have to cover the cost.
  5. Quick question. I'm certain this cover would have been commissioned by Marvel US, not Marvel UK, but I have not been able to track down if it ever showed up on a US book. The cover on #91 was from Savage Sword #102. UK issue #93 has another Sienkiewicz cover as well that I can't trace, but I don't have a copy of that issue. Anybody know where or even if this showed up in the US?
  6. In today. First publication of Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space". Crazy happy to have a copy of this one.
  7. I have no doubt; I actually have a copy of Creepy #6... but that's the only Warren mag of that vintage I own. I need to check a box when I get to my storage unit, but I think I may have something I can share here myself in a couple weeks.
  8. If people haven’t already claimed these by PM, I would love some of these!
  9. Almost missed it, but wanted to repost it for the anniversary. 90 years ago this month:
  10. Just so we have all 3 here, slightly edited for the boards:
  11. Nice! I think that’s the only Frazetta work for NatLamp that I don’t have yet.
  12. Somewhat to my surprise, and somewhat unusually for the book, it's actually illustrating a story in the issue where they're making fun of the cinemascope films. I would be quite interested to see somebody skilled in Photoshop undistort the curve on the image, to see how accurate Feldstein got it.
  13. Seconding this. Given the similarity of the stamps, they may have been stamped before going out as comp copies to contributors to the title. Although the one book I have with the Hamilton-Brackett stamp doesn't have a story by them
  14. And two in today. The Panic #5, which completes my run, and Piracy #4.
  15. Fresh in today, a low grade reader copy run of Impact (well, 4 of 5 issues). It's interesting, the New Direction books tend to get looked at as a footnote between the New Trend and Mad when they're mentioned at all. Bernie Krigstein, while highly regarded, is not normally considered one of the major EC artists. But I don't think anybody would argue with you if you called "Master Race" the best story EC ever published. They may not agree with you... I'm not sure it actually has my vote... but I don't think anybody would say it's not one of the few that's in the running. Odd tangent that I don't think I would have noticed without the images side by side like this: They redrew the lightning bolt but not the figure in the sidebar each issue. Anyway, some good reading for me tonight... I'm not sure I've actually seen any of the stories other than "Master Race" before.
  16. And, for good measure, some Simon & Kirby illustrations for the stories. They’re credited on the table of contents:
  17. Personally, I like the ad for Marvel Comics in the Marvel Stories more. Not that the one for the first issue in your book isn’t awesome: it’s
  18. And, secondly: The November 1940 issue of Marvel Stories. This is the one with Simon & Kirby illustrations and a one-page comic format ad for Marvel Mystery with the Human Torch by Carl Burgos. I'm going to cross-post this one over in the Timely thread with some photos of interior pages shortly:
  19. Two books in today. I wouldn't quite call either of them a grail; but they're both in whatever category is just shy of full grail status. First up: The August 1939 issue of Unknown. Forget the cover story; I wanted this for Fritz Leiber's "Two Sought Adventure". First appearance of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser!
  20. That makes more sense than a once a month drop, even if it makes looking for them each month more of a pain.
  21. I have the same issue; I found the #2 for Superman and Justice League but not Batman or Teen Titans. They had restocked the #1's, as well. Has anybody seen the #2's for Bats and JL yet?
