Nice one, there's a John D. MacDonald backup story in there as well.

Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?
OtherEric replied to Reno McCoy's topic in Pulp Magazines
Public domain day 2024! I know the more common version of this goes into the Public Domain today, but I can't find any information saying if this version (an earlier draft) does or not: -

Well, I've got 49 issues of Planet Stories... and zero issues of Planet Comics. I suspect the comics are much scarcer, a lot of Science Fiction fans were keeping the pulps by the 40's. This is Planet Stories specific, and doesn't apply directly to say, Fight Stories and Fight Comics or Jungle Stories and Jungle Comics. -

A couple more borderline covers, including the Natlamp magazine because I know Mike has specifically said it's acceptable in the past: -
In today. I'm now essentially complete with the Warren comics. I don't expect to ever get an Eerie #1 and I'm not really looking. If opportunity presents, I'll grab the Dracula book, the Spirit Special, and the 3 Corben story variant of Comix International 4. But I have: 1984/ 1994 1-29 Blazing Combat 1-4 Comix International 1-5 Creepy 1-146, and all 5 yearbook/ annuals Eerie 2-139, and all 3 yearbook/ annuals Famous Westerns of Filmland/ Wildest Westerns 1-6 (admittedly very limited comics in these, but not quite none.) The Goblin 1-3 Help 1-26 Monster World 1-3, the only issues with comics. The Rook 1-14 The Spirit 1-16 (and, in fact, 1-41 including the Kitchen Sink issues) Teen Love Stories 1-3 Vampirella 1-113, plus the Annual and Special Warren Presents: All the comic issues, plus the Movie Aliens Illustrated issue that's normally included to make the 1-14 numbering work. Next up: The Marvel magazines. Which I'm actually pretty close on for the 70's issues, other than Crazy.

Super happy to hear you're home, Jimbo. Hopefully you've got enough from the fundraising thread to keep things handled while you take the time to recover. Strokes can vary a lot, just the fact that you can post here tells me you're doing moderately well considering. -

Today's books. It would not surprise me if I've got a copy of the May 1951 Planet somewhere in a box already, but I couldn't locate it if I do. It wasn't too pricey , in any case. I do enjoy the West issues with Zorro stories, they're frequently cheap when I find them but trying to narrow the search enough to locate them can be a trick. -

My favorite covers and what I consider the most in demand ones rarely completely overlap. The one you picked is pretty great. -

And a small batch in today. The War-Maid of Mars was definitely another issue I had filed as a likely problem, along with the Werwile issue and the Ingles cover. I think my big problem now is really just the first 5 or so issues and the 2nd PKD story. It's not as bad as the first, but people are sure asking a lot for it still. -

Magazine Selling / Trading Thread ONLY
OtherEric replied to toyman-migration's topic in Comic Magazines
I don't have any graded Vampi's, sorry. And I'm certain the seller had a clue but just missed it... I got all three books from MCS. Given how prices on Warren magazines jumped around based on page count, the variants can be really tricky to spot unlike, say, Marvel books where the 95c price is screamingly obvious. -

A few Canadian variants. Price is really the only obvious difference, the seller didn't distinguish any of these when I bought them: -

Phantom Lady #19. Some paper loss to the cover and spine, as visible in the scan. Cover and centerfold still attached. Color on the interior pages is off register, but that's common to all the copies of the issue I've personally seen. If anybody wants more pictures I'm happy to take more. I'm not the world's best grader or person at pricing, but a .5 missing a centerfold sold on eBay for $895 recently. Let's say $700 or best offer to Jim takes it, I'll cover US postage or the first $15 of International postage. EDIT: Sold to @badback83! Thank you!

It’s interesting, both of those books are illustrated origins for Santa Claus. It’s interesting in how they handle the story both similarly and differently.
