  1. Bad Man of the West is the last of the G-series that's part of the D-S-G run, after this they have their own numbering. And the "it's under $5" rule on the nurse books is still in effect.
  2. Journey to the Center of the Earth possibly shows just how crazy I am working on the D-S-G Ace run; I have the D-155 version as well and other than the number on the cover and spine they're indistinguishable.
  3. Next, I figured out how to get myself in to real trouble: I found a seller on AbeBooks (Books from the Crypt) that had scans of even their cheap books, and a low per book additional shipping charge. Which means that I spent less than $6 a book on average here, tax and shipping included. That still adds up when you order 28 books. A couple of these are clearly placeholders, but overall I feel like I made out like a bandit. It's amazing how buying comics and pulps skews your sense of cost. We'll start with the Aces:
  4. Everybody sitting comfortably? Because I've got a fair number of books in today. We'll start with one of the two big ones... We Can Build You by PKD. As near as I can tell, this is the last book I needed for the full set of PKD first edition first printing paperback originals. So a pretty major milestone for me; if anybody wants me to try and do a group shot let me know.
  5. I think I’ve said it before, but it’s always extra special to see your original owner books, Marty!
  6. I seem to have lucked out, as far as it goes. The circle works well enough with my avatar.
  7. If nothing else, I can probably use the "buy extra shelves" idea once I find an otherwise suitable bookcase.
  8. Today's book. I think this is the only Heinlein story in the D-S-G series. It was also an Ace PKD book I was missing. And it's a minor milestone: I now have the complete run of the Ace S-Series SF titles... all four of them.
  9. I always forget the annuals, since they have random content. But they definitely count, even I don’t have them on my high priority list. If I let myself count the SSS issues I’m over halfway, otherwise I’m at 24.
  10. 57? I count 55… 22 WS, 22 WF, 7 WS-F, 4 ISF. I would also allow the 1st 11 issues of Shock SuspenStories, and 3D EC Classics #1. But adding either of those puts us at 56, 65, or 66. None of that detracts from the books themselves, of course!
  11. Let me know where to send my contribution to the statue fund, Albert. I'm imagining something on the scale of the Colossus of Ankh-Morpork, personally.
  12. Let me know if you spot something good. Most bookshelves are just way too deep to be optimal for paperbacks, and since I'm in an apartment I don't want to build permanent shelves.
  13. I tend to focus my post-Warren Vampi interest on specific creators; it's amazing how many impressive names have worked on the character over the years.
  14. An odd question: Is anybody aware of a good bookshelf for displaying paperbacks? I'm starting to think I may be better off just getting some boards and building one myself than trying to find one, or I'm totally incompetent trying to figure out search terms.
  15. So, @Surfing Alien had a copy of this in his recent sales thread, but I hesitated too long and somebody beat me to it. This copy isn't nearly as nice... but it will do for now.
  16. I know Cousin Eerie showed up in the 1993 Creepy Fearbook as well, but beyond that no real clue. I have this very vague impression that there was some complication regarding Harris's rights to the Warren material at some point, but I really don't know details. It may have been an issue later, which explains why Dynamite has Vampi while Dark Horse is doing the other archives. Or I could be completely mangling the story.
  17. Today's book. Shame I can't find a D-15 in this grade for $10 with shipping, my copy of that one is pretty beat. I particularly like the Barton cover, but the Saunders isn't bad either.
  18. Welcome to the boards! A picture out of the bag would help, in the picture the cover looks glossy, but could be the bag. Authentic March of Comics from this era had covers on the same stock as the interiors.
  19. @Axe Elf, you have correctly identified the mirror as the plot error that made the story completely fail for me… because it’s not even a plot hole, it’s a complete wall that makes the resolution impossible. As I said before, nice art, at least!
