  1. Every so often I re read this thread bangzoom, and I wonder if now, 5 years later, with the explosion of values, you have ever thought of reconsidering your no selling rule on these books? Specifically, the Planet, Weird and Wonder runs to me, haha ! (JOKE ALERT I wouldnt have the net worth to buy one of them!) Also, I never did see any Good Girl Art, do you have a Blue Beetle 52 and 54?
  2. Also, whoever got this one for $155 at the last Comiclink auction absolutely stole it... I hope a boardie got it! Its got the best colors of all the books I saw. That will teach me to sell GA no reserve on comiclink!
  3. I'm glad you guys like it! I traded all these for this.... I love this one, I think its the best GGA cover!
  4. I talked to Matt N today and he said only black magic markers wont show up in black light, and other magic marker colors would. So I dont think there is any color touch because the areas in question are the dark red on spidey's left arm in the AF 15 and the very top purple edge. He said he would need to see the top edge of the book to confirm.
  5. mastercontrolprogram emailed me and said that dark colors usually wont show under black light. I believe he was talking about magic marker dark colors.
  6. I've bought a lot from Brent, usually he's spot on, but I got an Av 22 9.0 that came back 9.6 after pressing... He's got lot to do and works fast and he doesnt want returns, so if anything is questionable, he will undergrade if anything in my experience because its a pain to deal with returns. He makes his money when he buys it (he pays what he can comfortably grade it at, even if it might be undergraded, who cares, he still made money, everyone is happy etc). I think he downgraded it because it had a little dust shadow on the top middle right
  7. It would be unusual, although not impossible, for a seller like QualityComix to make a discovery mistake. It's not in their best interest to imagine restoration that isn't there. Did he specify the exact location? If you want, get a digital camera, put it on macro, and take a few pics for us to look at what you are describing. Also, look closely at the inside cover near the spine area. Sometimes the bleed through is hidden under the other wraps. ok will do, thanks! Would magic marker glow under a black light?
  8. ok so I've received my blacklight in the mail today, went to a pitch black room and nothing on the AF15 lit up (although lots of stuff on the carpet glow radiocatively ) . Thread on black lights So I talked to Brent at QualityComix and he says he didnt use a black light but he saw bleed through like from magic marker. My question is: Wouldnt magic marker glow in the blacklight? I opened the inside front cover and the top edge looked like bleed through, but I looked closer and the areas on the top edge were not colored on the other side. In fact they were lighter. It was almost as if the paper had chipped away from the inside cover, but the purple colored paper on the top from the outside was still there. So I dont think there was bleed through... any thoughts?
  9. wow wow wow... I cant wait to finish this story! Fun to be excited about comics again BZ!
  10. Amazing book, and even more amazing that you were able to pry this away from comicdey! He has an 8.0 and a 5.5, plus I had a wings 84 8.5 he wanted! I did notice on GPA no one has sold any of these since 2005-7... This was an upgrade for me from my 6.5 from the Hollywood Smoke shop collection that I just sold on Comiclink...
  11. ok, thanks,I've listed the 94 and will keep the 52 to my grave because I just love it! I'm decided I like keeping the books that have eye popping color, unless they are too valuable. It helps to buy a collection, then you can really see the top 3 or so books eye appeal wise. For me here it was the bb 52, the jumbo 118, the wings 85 and wings 94 (which is too valuable for me to keep).
  12. wow, someone has either (1) been at this a looooong time or (2) had a nice find in his grandfathers closet! That is an amazing group shot of marvels!
  13. ok, thanks,I've listed the 94 and will keep the 52 to my grave because I just love it!
  14. dang they look good, the 9.0 looks borderline 9.2! maybe I should just keep them both! the sale of the 54 means I can hold them
  15. Gator: Sell or flip wings 94? Last Gpa for 9.0 in OW $1912 currently an 8.0 W in the Feb CL auction Mine, the smoke shop copy, is 9.0 OW/W highest graded best pq. I was thinking of pricing it at $2500 or thereabouts on the boards. If the Mile high is 9.4, then the MH is probably a $10k book, but now I'm thinking is the time to sell before the MH is graded. Maybe the MH is only a 7.5 and mine is the $10k book? Also, I could wait and see what happens with the 8.0 in the Comiclink auction. Maybe the book go nuts and mine is worth even more, or not? Instead of keeping the Wings 94 I could hang onto my Blue Beetle 52 to cover myself for investment purposes. Take profits on 1 and hold onto the other for the long haul. The Blue Beetle 52 can be pressed to a 7.5 or 8.0. I know I'm definitely keeping the 52 because gpa prices are way low for at the moment and it should come up sometime in the next 10-20 years. Plus I really enjoy looking at it myself.
  16. Gator, So the Blue Beetle 54 sold in the selling forum for $5400. How do I report this sale to gpa? I'm thinking it would help the value of all Blue Beetle's (I still have a 52) because, along with the sale of the 7.5 for $5k, it is establishing a breakout to a new trading range for these books.
  17. Just got this is in the mail, very happy! I like that this was part of the Senate hearings on SOTI, so it is kind of neat historical memento.
  18. If I could flip profitably I would (thumbs u Cool, got it back today 8.0...
  19. Umm, so I assume Nearmint owns the books... care to share the story? Wow, to be around in '82 when chuck was selling them, to have the money to buy them then and the foresight to hold onto them! Then again, pretty much any real estate or stock investment bought in 1982 also would be up 20-40x your money anyway!!
  20. Do you know any stories behind how and who scored big when the mile highs were sold? Also, Iron Man #1 in 9.4, investment prospects?
  21. Great buyer, very helpful on how to ship to him in bombproof packaging!
