  1. Very nice! I agree, as much a fan I am of the horror covers there's just something very special about #5. The weird Wolvi beastie of course but the whole composition is very pleasing. (thumbs u WTOF is the best horror/ sci-fi hybrid in comic history, imo. And #s 2 and 5 have covers that definitely match #3s.
  2. ...I wish..... but then, if it was the 90's I probably would have traded it for a 12 pack of cold beer GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u The eternal quandary...cold beer or cool books.
  3. Dreadful news. I was an avid collector of undergrounds but was never in the same league as Howard. He was one of those boardies who was always a credit to this place.
  4. Cool one! Saw this at the show today. Almost bought it. Is there such a thing as 'non-buyers remorse'? Yes, definitely.
  5. A copy of that book in that grade went for $180 ten months ago.
  6. Great forum seller - excellent comms, service, packing and lightning shipping to the U.K. Not to mention the book was awesome. Thanks Jack!
  7. ....it left me in the dust. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Yeah, me too. By about $700. I'm just not convinced these prices can be sustained. Albeit their great books, I just can justify dropping that much coin on these PCH books. But hey, ya never know Nothing is sustainable, including niche GA markets. However there are enough nutters like me out there who obsessively collect Atlas pre-code that the bubble won't burst for a while yet.
  8. ....it left me in the dust. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Yeah, me too. By about $700.
  9. The JIM 16 in CGC 5.5 went for nearly $2K last night...
  10. The three I have are: City of the Living Dead Chamber of Chills 19 The Haunt of Horror 14 Two of the tougher books right there. (thumbs u
  11. Shame Ian Levine isn't around these days...I hear he has an obscure DC or two...
  12. It is insane - seeing a 9.9 label with that book was definitely a double-take moment. I wouldn't say GA collectors are as grade obsessed as the Bronze / Copper crowd, but there only has to be two deep-pocketed EC Fan-Addicts who want bragging rights for the book to go crazy.
  13. Its probably that the other bidder bid first, and your bid was not a full increment higher than his.
  14. Bought a Brave And The Bold 25 from Roger - excellent comms, packing and super-fast shipping to the U.K. And a great book, too. (thumbs u
  15. Great copy of the WM 4 (possibly my favourite PCH book). Nicest copy I've seen and presents better than the given grade.
  16. What can you say? Does GA get any better than this book? A cover you could easily have as a poster on your wall. Schomburg in his earlier, more pulpy phase was just as great as later on.
  17. Yep, it's #60s fault that #54 is so important. It's a real conundrum.
  18. BB #54 was not intended to be the 1st TT but in hindsight it ended up being the 1st TT after they appeared in a 2nd issue in #60. Roy, I hate to disagree with you, but the creators have said that the editorial directive that led to BB 54 was to do a "Junior Justice League" adventure. DC had, in fact, suggested in the letters column of BB years before that a JJLA adventure would be forthcoming in response to fan demand. Haney's recollection is that it was Kashdan who made the directive. Haney said in 1996: "I think it was George Kashdan who first said: 'How about a series starring the kid superheroes?' and that later I was the one who came up with the name Teen Titans. ... It was no great earth shaking creative stroke, taking some already existing house characters and combining them into a team...." Right, I meant that it was not the 1st TT in name as the name had not yet been created. Most of the opposition to BB #54 being the 1st TT seems to stem from the name not yet being announced as the TT in BB #54. The editorial intent was there, the characters were there, the team up was there - the only thing missing was the name. And then BB #60 ran on the coat tails of #54's success and a name was given to a team which had already been formulated 7 issues prior. I think we're in agreement in theory. I just worded it poorly. And it only took 91 pages.
  19. Mid grades going comfortably for four figures...
  20. The Royal Family of PCH (probably my favorite title of the genre). Very apt for a Corgi!
  21. I'll go with the 1.5 as the large piece missing on the cover trumps brittle pages.
  22. Incredible run that I've never seen before. Great stuff.
