  1. Always. There should be a separate Viz thread, devoted to our favourite mucky profanity-strewn mag.

  3. It'll be grey, miserable and 5,000 miles away soon...
  4. If you mean football, I went to a few Spurs matches in the late ' 70s during the Burkinshaw era, but not many. A good time to be a Spurs fan, at that point.... There was very much a football hooliganism spillover at concerts in London in the late ' 70s, however, although it didn't last. Went to my fair share of punk and post-punk gigs back in the day, certainly. I did see the Lurkers back at a pub which was very much a punk venue back then - the Fulham Greyhound. Saw most of the key bands of the era (apart from the Pistols, who I did finally end up seeing in 1996) and a lot of rather average ones. Gigs got more iffy to go to by the end of ' 78 / early 79, when everything was very tribalist. There used to be fights at gigs for a couple of years, regardless of whether it was the Lyceum, the Electric Ballroom, the Roundhouse or the Hope And Anchor. I remember seeing the Damned at the Moonlight Club in West Hampstead at that time and far too many people in the audience were not there for the music. Thankfully all the Oi, ska and Mod Revival (urgh) tripe got marginalized or faded away and by ' 81 the post-punk / electronica / gothic acts had taken over...Bauhaus, Birthday Party, Gang Of Four, Sisters, Killing Joke, Echo, etc. I remember going to see REM in early ' 82 (their first UK tour?) and noticing how placid and laid-back the gig was, which I did find confusing.
  5. One of my favourite bits of punk footage. (thumbs u
  6. The lunatics have taken over the asylum in General. I do wish the mods would put a full stop to their drivel.
