and some GA junk:
Big deal George.
Seriously, a fantastic book. You've built up one of the best GA collections in Europe in rapid time....
-
Kudos to neurosis138 and Comicsarefun for some very nice books, both arriving in super-fast time. Cheers, gents!

Those Boris Karloff covers are very nice...not a title that's heavily in demand, but underrated.
-
You felt they were a bit draconian on the Hulk 141 (and most of the others)...
At least there's the GL 85, though. Wh'appen?
-
My latest arrivals were total suckage
I take it that you'd rather not share the details....
-
Kudos to october for a very nice GL. (thumbs u

Incidentally beings its our 25th Anniversary, She is probably expecting Diamonds!!!!!
Nah, that's for your 60th. Just get her something Silver for the 25th...a nice mid-grade mid '60s Marvel'll do.
Still never got round to picking up a copy of SOTI. I really should bite the bullet and buy one...

Just got these in the mail...
(Thanks cd4ever for the Strange Adventures)
Fantastic Adams covers on both.

Great books Nik.

But GPA prices are strictly for slabbed books, and takes into account the guaranteed grade, the cost of getting the book slabbed and the month(s)-long wait to get the book back. That's what the buyer is paying for.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
One can use GPA to figure out the POTENTIAL value of a raw book if one is aware of 1) CGC's grading standards and 2) the seller's. Yes, there are all the ancillary costs, which have to be factored in. That goes without saying. The fact remains that I have used GPA in tandem with Overstreet on raw books over the last several years. I have spent a considerable amount of money on raw books using GPA and it has not let me down in that it reports ACTUAL SALES. So GPA is about slabbed books. So? It's all about reading between the lines and knowing the market.
And as for sellers using GPA stats when selling raw books, as long as they grade accurately, I see no problem. The buyer is making an informed choice and is not being hoodwinked. And if this is all about your attempt to protect the novice buyer from being misled, please.

Nice books, Greg. Where'd you get 'em??
I would have paid you double

I've noticed this trend lately and it seems to be coming from the more recently joined members of the boards.
The trend is that the titles of FS threads have become rather....all-encompassing?? For example....
GA,SA,BA,CA,MA, Marvel & DC, HG to low grade with some other stuff
And then the sales thread is 3 pages long....
This just an example but it's not really too far off of what is going on lately.
All I'm trying to say is a little more refinement of the FS threads are needed.
All they have to do is give a rough "table of contents" for the thread, as in what's coming...perhaps in chronological order. I prefer what they do to multiple threads, to be honest.

Okay, the 138 PGX 8.5 came back as a CGC 8.0:
Well, I nailed that one. I haven't bought a PGX book in years, but I recall the old notion that although they would miss resto, they would often undergrade (at least compared to CGC).
Looks like those three 86'd that one...
-
9.6. No, seriously, 8.0. Mind you, I was way off on the second one.
-
I'll go with 8.0 on the second one...
-
Never saw that post coming. Your underpriced gems are being packed with immense care and precision as I post this.
What is it? Package my sweet books yet?
Beautiful book, nevertheless.Okay here it is: PGX had graded it a 9.2. -

The unavoidable "turd "
I think that should be put in the Forum lexicon for that occasional reverse-bump book that comes back considerably lower than expected.

Ok. How's the slimmer trimmer notice. Useless? Useful?
Much improved. Now can it appear only once perhaps? Instead of every page? Or did you fix that already?
Even once per thread is OTT....
The old system was okay - errant seller comes along, ignores rules, someone points this out and calmly (well, that's the theory) directs person to the rules thread. If seller refuses to comply, notify Mods, and game over. Regardless of how many notices are pinned, you're still gonna get twits who'll wilfully flout the rules.

Mark Bagley
Yeah, he's great.
And let's not forget Alex Saviuk, Al Milgrom, Frank Robbins, Alan Kupperberg, and Ron Lim while we're at it.
-
I was always a fan of Alex Nino as well...his work is quite a bit offbeat but his linework is sometimes as detailed as Wrightson...definatly an aquired taste and highly underrated...
I remember his work from Weird War...not your typical comic artist, and hard to get used to.

Mike Nasser
I've got a portfolio by Nasser...awesome otherworldly stuff... ...kinda like Starlin...
Yep, he had a lot of talent before he changed his name to Netzer...some people pegged him as a Neal Adams clone, which I always thought was unfair.

It was in low grade, though.
