  1. Thanks for the incredibly kind words - much appreciated. Not sure that many on this thread would agree with that praise - this is partly down to the fact that I don't go on General much these days - I guess you reach burn out eventually as many threads in CG tend to get repeated, although there are still a few threads that I check out. It's still the hub. Plus the boards, as Allan (Chromium - another old fart) once said have fragmented and compartmentalized over the years. I'm mainly in the GA Forum or the WC, which is ironic as in the early days here I would avoid that section. I also did get into it with certain boardies back in the day, but nearly all of them are no longer here, and haven't been for many years. I realized early on that it wasn't me to have the sort of board persona who'd get into flame wars. There are one or two OBs (original boardies) who are still lurking around. In the first few years the boards were far less strictly moderated - a lot of behavior back then would never be tolerated now, and to be honest that's fine. The only thing I'd say is that this is my preferred place on the internet, and that I am a supremely nerdy old fart. I do contribute, but there are folks on here who have added more to the place - nik (of course), sckao, FFB (ultra-opinionated, but very sharp), tth2 (ditto), greggy (for being a board mascot and putting up with endless put-downs and barbs), and those curmudgeonly old gits Watson and Flaming_Telepath (I miss those blokes here). Not to mention GG and Bangzoom for their contributions in the GA section. But my pick for the HOF would be Flee Marquette, primarily for this hallowed thread, which has the Rifleman spoof with Bedrock and Dale Roberts. Oddly enough I was just checking out this thread when you did. My first posts on the forum, that thread was. And as for Beerbohm, whatever you may think of him, there would never have been this thread, which is my all-time favourite on this forum. Should be mandatory reading. And as for Cal, well, he's been threatening to leave for some time now. But he's still here to enlighten us. Well enough of the Oscar nominations. I've had my moments and I've been here for getting on for two decades but I'd pick many of those boardies over me.
  2. I think we’ve hit rock bottom. Did I mention which highway you have to take to get there? No, please elaborate.
  3. Good lord, how cheap things were back then. Ok, no more bumps. But that was a nice trip down memory lane...
  4. Good memory, as that was eight years ago. Superb copy of #5. The Iger Shop turned out so many great covers.
  5. It is, according to the census. Was lucky to pick it up (obviously!).
  6. Thanks. Bought that gem a number of years ago. I'm a big Farrell fan, and this is possibly the best cover of the publisher's canon.
