  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the problem lies with the fact that the buyer never received an invoice at all. Ahh, I read the seller's statement as if he had invoiced the correct person and that person didn't respond. My stance still hasn't changed. The seller should seek to make amends with the buyer but I still don't think it is a PL worthy event. The seller is fully admitting to the error. If the person who bought the items in error would return them but be compensated for that loss in some way by the seller so that the seller could in turn honor the transaction with the original buyer that would be resolve things to some extent. Just a thought.
  2. I have had a couple of transactions with the seller and I have had no problems with him at all. He does invoice within minutes of a boardie claiming an item though and should list in his threads that he expects immediate payment or he will move on to the next paying customer. It seems at times there is a misunderstanding between sellers and buyers concerning board etiquette vs. board rules. Three or five days without a response to a pm invoice may seem like a flaky buyer to the seller if immediate payment is the expectation. However, a 5 day non-response to an invoice for claimed items is not a violation of the board's buying policy. Proper etiquette would have been for the buyer to respond to the invoice giving the seller notice of intentions of paying for the items on a specific date and time. Even though that wasn't done, the seller should not have sold the items to a new buyer without stating in the thread that the items were still available because of a lack of response from the buyer to an invoice. The seller needs to have clear terms concerning payment expectations IMO. I don't think it is PL worthy but the seller needs to make things right with the buyer for negating his claim on the items.
  3. Also looks like the sellers feedback rating potentially kept them from receiving higher bids. That 1 negative feedback seemed kind of a lame reason for a negative- slow shipping.
  4. The artwork was lacking in Justice League Rebirth #1 and there was no plot to speak of. DC's version of Independence Day. Flash is still the most interesting title after Batman IMO. Flash #1 featured the first appearance of another speed force recipient- August Heart of CCPD.
  5. This may be a good route to go if he's looking to acquire a certification for a new profession. I'm pretty sure they would have some type of financial aid packet but most of the certification fees seem to be pretty reasonable: Certification programs
  6. Is there any way to find out what the seller accepted as the best offer price? That is without contacting the seller directly? $124.00 watchcount.com Thanks

  8. I see the Mighty Thor 1:50 Variant is up on ebay at a hefty price. I have owned all of the Venom 1:50 except for the ASM 678 and I will say that is the toughest one to find. I have never seen one in the wild.
  9. That very photo could be in their stock photos. You don't know for sure but to keep from beating a dead horse, yeah the guy is unscrupulous for ripping off someone's photo to sell a comic he may or may not have. Ebay is just not going to do anything to him for selling with someone else's photo. The point I'm making was that: assuming the photo originated on Instagram & the first use of it on eBay was not by the same person that initially posted it TO instagram, then it cannot be covered by that policy. Using a stolen photo is a copyright violation (there's absolutely no fair-use exemption here) & no eBay policy can magically turn a photo that the poster didn't have the right to use in the first place into a valid stock photo. But yeah, eBay won't care unless a bunch of people complain. And even then, they still won't really care or do anything except maybe axe that listing at most. Yep, that was what I was alluding to. I wasn't defending the seller in the sense he wasn't doing wrong. It's just that Ebay allows this kind of thing to happen because Sellers don't have to use actual photos for their auctions. As a buyer I like to know exactly what I am purchasing and on the flip side as a seller if I put in the work to represent my comic as high grade and do all types of scans I don't want someone else to come along and lazily use my pics to sell their similar item.

  11. Ebay allows sellers to use stock photos. I would be wary of an auction for an item that pricey without an actual pic but he isn't breaking any rules. someone else's photos aren't stock photos. Where do you think Ebay get their stock photos? Here is Ebay's official policy: "The product catalog may include, at our discretion, select seller-generated images or photos from seller listings. Unless the seller opts out of this program, the inclusion of seller-generated photos in the eBay product catalog and the use of catalog content by eBay sellers in their eBay listings is authorized under the User Agreement." I'm not saying its right. I'm just saying Ebay allows for the use of a pic not belonging to a seller unless the pic is watermarked or the sellers who owns the pic makes a request for the image not to be used. someone else's photos aren't stock photos. You don't know if the photo is in the stock or not.

  14. I am surprised at that selling price seeing that the lot is missing the Mary Jane, the Iron Man, the Uncanny X-Force & the Scarlet Spider Venom covers. That lot consists of the easier to find covers compared to ones I just listed.
  15. Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much. Some sellers on the board have the Mrs. Buttersworth syndrome- they do things in their own sweet time. If the items were sent by media mail give it another week before getting up in arms. As for the non-communication thing, its a pet peeve of mine but I wouldn't take it to heart as if the seller was trying to get over on you. It just may be that he hasn't got everything packed up yet and doesn't want to be taken to task about it. I had a similar situation to yours and I made a big stink about it and kind of got black balled because of my rant. My 2 cents would be to let things play out. The board is a great place to do business but misunderstandings do take place.
  16. +1 The same scenario as New Mutants(2009 3rd series) #12 in the Second Coming story arc. That book shot up to $20+ the day it came out. It's not always a low print run per se rather sometimes an under or low ordered title in a popular story arc. LCS try to estimate the interest of an upcoming story arc by their preview orders or asking subscribers directly if they're interested in picking up all the tie-in issues. A lot of subscribers will say that they are going to pass on certain big event cross-over stories but end up buying tie-in copies anyway on a Wednesday release if a big enough buzz generates around the story. So the shelf copy supply takes a hit when actually a good percentage of the sales could have been pull box copies if subscribers who bought the shelf copies had committed to subscribing to the tie-ins months earlier. I didn't hear much of a buzz about Black Vortex but obviously there is a slowly rising demand for the tie-in issues and the supply is dwindling. The shops I frequent ordered heavily on this storyline but I'm pretty sure they're pulling the copies off the shelves to put up on ebay or bumping up the prices way above cover price by now.
