    Maybe a beter question is who can you trust to grade ?

    The red sonja books are with out question hard to comeby in 9.8 so were are the thousands of bronze books people say are out there ?

    I definetly dont trust EBAY !!!

  4. Hello Everyone,

    I’ve been collecting multiple covers and error comics for a long time, and I think I know some people on this board, but this is a first time posting for me, and I hope this all works.

    I’m gradually moving to a smaller place, and need to pare down my comic collection. I’ve bought a table at ComiConn for Saturday, August 18th at the Trumbull, Connecticut Marriott, and plan to offer for sale 10+ virgin $1 boxes of comics (not errors). Additionally, I’m planning to display rare Xcover comics from 1/3X to 9X (including two raw 8X comics), and other ironic and generic error covers.

    If any of you have specific 2X or error wants (or other wants, price variants, esoteric, rare, Whitman, horror, sci-fi, So Much Fun, etc.) ask me, and I’ll let you know what I have. You guys should get first pick.

    Hope to see you there. Thanks.

    Welcome to the boards !!!!!!

  5. Well it seems that conan 78 a red sonja book is also a WHITMAN Variant

    Now how to find one ?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Edited

    Well this is a very very complicated topic

    Marvel DID print some books with a Whitman label

    But basicaly Whitman was a reseller who packaged the books in bags for sale in stores (marvel)

    So its safe to say 99.99% of the diamond labled books were a marvel direct sale book or a second print for distabution through secondary meens ?

    The internet and ebay seems to lable everything Whitman and is mostly wrong ?

    There seems no extra value to the books and no exact list I can find ?

    ======

    this sort of explains it from here -> http://www.dougcomicworld.com/INVENTORY-MarvelSite.html

    MARVEL; 1977-1979 early Direct Editions Variants; (SCARCE to Uncommon); These are often mistakenly Sold as "WHITMAN Variants of MARVEL" comics, all thru the year. Only a few Treasury Editions were actual WHITMAN Printings, otherwise only the Plastic Bags were actually "Whitman"; ** Early MARVEL DIRECT Editions (with Black Diamond on cover, with NO "cc" on cover, with NO UPC or obscured UPC Codes, or Blank White UPC Codes). 1977 MARVEL Direct Editions are SCARCE; 1978-1979 issues are UNCOMMON; For the 2 months 7/1978 & 3-4/1979, only Newsstand editions were published. (exceptions are; Micronauts & Shogun Warriors, often mistaken as reprints, but actually just Direct 1st printings). These are only on the ground floor as collectibles, as a lot is not yet well known or Documented

    ============

    So you can read a hundred posts (like I did today)but it comes down to *** mistakenly Sold as "WHITMAN Variants of MARVEL" comics***

    ------------

    So because the comic in the plastic bag had a diamond lable dosnt make it a Whitman only the bag is Whitman ?

    The printing Whitman or a Whitman lable HAS to be on the book to be a Whitman varient just being in the bag dosnt do it ??

    Now I have to figure out if theses early Direct Editions Variants are second prints

    :)
