  1. General question: In sales threads with a lot of books, do you prefer to see full size scans posted in the thread (which requires a lot more paging to make it through the thread), or do you prefer clickable thumbnail scans, which make the threads more svelte (but requires you to click to see big scans of the books you're interested in)?

I prefer full-sized front and back in the thread. Show me what ya got.

    Me too.

  2. Great pickups Jamie! You can't go wrong with Jack Kamen either! Are they the books you picked up in Boston?

Those were from the boards actually! Here were my Boston Con pickups:

Now if I can just score my GAG #6 shark cover I'll have that run. I actually think I owe the group shot thread a pic or two...

Nice and congrats on the completion of the run!

  3. I've seen others do the same thing. It feels slightly overkill to me, but I can't say I don't get it. In any case, more protection is never a bad thing. (thumbs u

Alas, 99% of my Golden and Silver Age books are mid-grade or lower, so this method is probably unnecessary for me, anyway. A single M2 with a fullback/halfback will suffice. :P

Yup, that's why I called it the obsessive compulsive method. lol

  4. Ooh. The last post was a bit cynical. What an .

Which post are you referring to? If you're referring to my post, there is nothing cynical about it. I was dead serious - that is exactly how I do it. I also put two sheets of mcp next to both covers.

I'm pretty sure he's jokingly referring to his own post and his jab at Comics General.

Thanks for responding to this. Since, mine was one of the more recent posts I didn't want him (or anyone else) to think I was being cynical. I really do bag my "better" books the way I described.

  6. Amazing copy! Congrats!

I've been quiet on this thread the last few weeks because I've been waiting for this to arrive and I finally picked it up yesterday!

Hopefully I'll have time before the B's game tonight to take pics of it with it's sister cover, the STT #11. I really never thought I'd be able to own this book and I'm ecstatic that I've now got it in my greedy little hands.

Now, to hunt down a Suspense #4 and the elusive Capt Aero #26 (along with the laundry list of stuff in my sig line)!

Congrats Jamie! I'm happy for you. :applause:

  7. Quoted from Apirl 23, 2012:

I've got a question: I purchased an original cover via Paypal through an art rep and the OA had to come from Italy - I have not recieved it. The art rep is someone I have dealt with before, and very communicative. I have no reason to believe there is anything shady or underhanded going on.

However, I am approaching my 45 days on Paypal - do I just cross my fingers hoping the art shows up and assume the art rep will make it right should something happen?

    If it was me, yes.

    Malvin

Thanks - I am actually pretty confident everything will be fine - I was just hoping to get some opinions from seasoned OA buyers.

It's been another month since I was last told it was "on it's way". Should I be getting nervous yet? Or is this a normal timeframe for art coming via Europe? Again, just looking for opinions and observations - not cold, hard fact. I've sent an email to the dealer politely asking for an update - but I am curious to how long is too long before I escalate my requests to have my purchased product delivered or money refunded.

I don't know if this helps you or not. I recently purchased a piece of OA that was being shipped from Belgium to the east coast of the US. I purchased on April 5 and it arrived on May 6.

  8. ... I just felt I needed to add in my 2cents on this whole situation because I think it speaks to how a lot of boardies have been feeling lately. The boards are not eBay or Comiclink or some other method of buying or selling books. It is a community, Some people actually become friends and like to talk/hang out. We all share a wonderful common thread, comics...

    Exactly!
