  1. The Batman 423 is in the upcoming Heritage auction, and yes, Shamus is the consignor.
  2. Yeah, I don't like putting oils under glass either...I guess I could use one of those air guns and clean it every week. I'm not sure it really shows in the scan, but there is a lot of texture except for the woman's face and book. I didn't buy directly from him but he referred me to the gallery...I guess I can shoot him an email and see what he thinks about displaying it. thanks for your help!
  3. I just got a painting (only thing in my CAF gallery). It's very black and has a lot of texture (painted over pumice), especially on the edges. I wan't going to frame it but I can already tell that the highly textured surface will attract dust, so I now think I need to put it under glass. I'm a novice at this...any suggestions? WHat kind of frame for a painting with so much black? Thanks in advance!
  4. I bought this awhile back but it finally came in. It's not comic art but I decided to get it while searching for a Fables cover. I'm still searching for a Fables cover...just looking for the right piece at a somewhat reasonable price.
  5. I believe it's an issue 31 page on eBay with a BIN of around 4k. On my phone so can't link.
  6. Thanks for all the help...I do appreciate it.
  7. Claudio - thank you! Does museum glass also protect from light like preservation glass? Or should I stick with preservation glass? Thanks again!
  8. Quick question. I am thinking of getting a nice graphite on paper sketch. I have heard that I should put it under glass for preservation reasons...can someone give me a reason? Also, any other things I need to consider for displaying this kind of art? i really like the piece but don't want to get it if it's going to fade or break down in 20 years. Thanks.
  9. It looks like 8 have now been reserved and 14 remain from issue 98.
  10. I show 5 of 22 have been reserved and 17 are remaining from page 98.
  11. Good for him and I guess good for those of us who purchased pieces earlier. And I show 17 pages still available...did Hay email you that all but 3 are gone?
  12. For the first time in several issues I was actually interested in some pages, but no way i pay those prices. Good luck to Adlard though...I hope he gets those prices.
  13. I wanted that page b/c it's where the whole story began. Yes, it's a 'boring' page but it's a scene I'll never forget from the comic and the tv show. Not sure it's a good investment at 9k, but it's something I wanted for my personal collection. I am sure I will get some heat for this too - but I actually think that was a terrible page too (while drawn 10000000 times better than Adlard) it was a pretty lame page - it was Rick, in a bed. Thats it. 8.5 grand for that!?!?! I can think of way cooler stuff for 8.5 grand!! I get that it was a first appearance, and the 2nd page of the entire series, and that it was the first page of the present, in the story, but still, its Rick, in a bed.
  14. I'm not mad at either one of them, but I just don't see the value in a majority of Adlard's panel pages. When they were cheaper, it was tempting to buy pages from favorite issues, but at these prices, I'd rather save for something more substantial, WD or otherwise. I am still looking at purchasing covers, but Adlard pages aren't on the radar anymore. I've mentioned this before but I was the underbidder on the issue 1, p 2 splash...I do regret not bidding more on that.
  15. Yep, I'm passing on these. I'm kind of surprised that the 95 unused cover is already on hold. Decent looking cover but a $1000 for an average unpublished piece???
  16. I hope Mark is noticing that those pages are NOT selling for the most part. I agree that there are many people trying to flip WD art, but from what i can see they aren't very successful at it. Those pages are not meant to be selling for those prices. They are up to try and drive traffic to other items for sale. Now if someone pulls the trigger and pays a ton for a piece of OA that is their right. Free BIN listings on eBay are a good thing to take advantage of if you have stuff you don't really care to sell, but if someone pays a crazy amount for them you will gladly take the offer. I own over 50 pieces of WD OA now and have a dozen of them framed including a few of them listed on eBay. I will continue to list some of them here and there to drive people to look at my other stuff for sale. Also I have sold off 2 pieces of WD OA in the past week to fellow board members for what I paid plus shipping. If it is a piece I am not that attached to I don't mind letting it go to another board member. Hadn't considered that...thanks for clarifying.

  18. The 3rd highest bidder bid 1k five days before the auction ended, so it still would have sold for 1025. It looks like the winner sniped the final bid, so I think it's a decent representation price wise. There are a lot of individual owners of WD art on CAF, and it seems to be pulling fans out of the woodwork. I'd argue it's pretty deep. Yeah, I just checked on that...so there were at least 3 of us willing to spend 1k or so on it. I wonder what Hay will price the next round of covers at? Seems like he's right around market price right now which is fine.
  19. I was the underbidder on that page too. Although the seller had 0 feedback, I was satisfied that it was Bill Crabtree, the artist, and I bid with confidence that I wouldn't be screwed over. But I do wonder what that page gets on Heritage or Clink or a power seller like Sparkle City. I just checked the bidding history. Besides the winner and me, one other bid up to 7700 and one below that at 7100. That's the one piece that I regret losing.
  20. It was either $900 or $950...just can't remember which. I think it was 900 - still a good return, especially in light of what the cover to 93 sold for and the quick turn around. I guess my 'worry' is that I was once again the underbidder on this cover. From looking at some of the CAF galleries, it seems i am bidding against the same people time after time, and I wonder what some of these prices would have been if I hadn't bid? Bottom line, I wonder how deep the WD OA market is?
  21. Serious question on the 99...is that really a strong price? From what I remember, Splash Art was charging in that range for covers. Does anyone remembe what the 99 cost...couldn't have sold that long ago.
  22. Yeah, people are marking up a few pages and listing them but I haven't seen much, if any, action on those. The No Reserve auctions seem to end about where Splash Art had them at. Not sure how much the cover to 93 was bought for but the seller got $799 for it on ebay...I'm guessing that's around what he paid for it. The cover to 92 got a good price though... The 19 cover shouldn't factor in too much, b/c that is Tony Moore and not Adlard.
