I've gone to cons and spent nothing and I've gone and spent thousands. It all depends on what I find. So this analogy doesn't really work for me.

I only trade with dealers I know well. I've been on the losing end of trades, and on the winning end, and everywhere in between. I find trading more fun than just handing money over.

Let's try to keep our heads here.

I may bring a few books to trade depending on which dealers are set up but they are just more junk to carry. As for cash I bring a few hundred but, in the event I want to make a large purchase, I'll just talk to the dealer about payment options. Not all will take a credit card at a show but many will take PayPal. If you're a willing buyer they will figure out a way to get the money from you.

A LCS owner gets annoyed at people walking in off the street wanting to sell him their comics? Or wanting to consign their stuff through him? Either way, this is not a thing to get annoyed with; it is the great advantage about owning a brick and mortar shop.

Disposable income is, by definition, income after taxes. However, if you are asking what the survey wanted to know then it was gross income before taxes. I am just assuming that people with higher gross incomes have more disposable income, though that is not always going to be the case, depending on someone's specific fiduciary responsibilities.
