    There is more risk in holding a $1 million physical commodity than just market fluctuations. Flood, fire, theft, bug infestation, etc. Or you keep it in a vault with insurance to lessen these risks but that requires overhead and the initial purchase price becomes just one data point in the total cost of ownership.
