  1. Attention For all those who will be at Shellback today: I expect TMNT cupcakes for my birthday. That is all.
  2. How do you know it was him? The owner of the lcs told me and I just shrugged it off because I didn't really care who bought my comic and then something clicked and I asked him about it. So all in all that was pretty cool if I see him again I want his autograph. Ask the LCS owner to ask David if he knows when the next Star Wars movie announcement is coming.
  3. I guess that would be the one but that's not exactly describing what I'm doing. Okay then what do you mean by cosigning your comics?
  4. I believe the word you are looking for is 'consign'.
  5. From what I've been told either Halloween or FCBD So either last weekend, next week, the end of the month or 7 months from now? That's a pretty tight window so make sure you sell when the hype reaches its peak.
  6. So the Star Wars movie announcement is coming at NYCC next week even though NYCC ended this past weekend?
  7. Was the Darth Vader #3 only $11, or has that gone out the window already? I haven't been hanging on every post lately, so maybe that has changed... Nope that's the one I bought for 75 dollars but I sold my star wars 1 for the exact price. So the pretzel logic is that it's okay to spend over your weekly budget as long as the purchase is funded by a recent sale? No it's not pretzel logic, one of my other problems I've had is buying too much and not selling enough. I will still keep to the budget but I will make a exception if I sell something I can buy something and if I don't sell anything then I don't buy anything but used the money I've saved up.

  9. Asking 4 or 5 figures for a book and not rolling the shipping cost into the ask price seems odd to me.
  10. How and why did you ever accept a return on a slab after 2 years? What was the book? It wasn't a slab when I sold it. It was a multiple thousand dollar book though that, when slabbed two years later, came back showing that the book was trimmed. I missed it and the buyer missed it. Maybe the trimming was there when I sold it, maybe it happened in the two years it was out of my possession. Either way, I just took the book back.
  11. As a seller, the forced stated return policies here are essentially immaterial to me. While I would be annoyed if a buyer wanted to return a slab due to buyer's remorse or an amorphous dissatisfaction with the book, I would never force a buyer to keep a purchased book he or she didn't want. Within reason, of course. I once accepted a return two years after the transaction completed*. Not that I want that to become standard but I'm always willing to have a conversation. *ugh
  12. Just joining in here so I don't know specifics but it seems you would have been better off dropping 11k into a Hulk 1 and flipping it. I was told that or a AF15 but I wouldn't have made all the mistakes that I have. .. but that would be a GOOD thing, Gabe. Maybe but then I wouldn't have all this advice What good is advice that gets ignored?
  13. Funny thing about a job is that you rarely have to worry about it losing you money. Yes but this isn't my job and all investments come with a risk my just happened to be one of the worst ones. Are you referencing a single comic investment or your comic dealing in general?
  14. Funny thing about a job is that you rarely have to worry about it losing you money.
  15. Gabe seems to believe that jobs should be fun. And if they aren't fun then he has no interest.
  16. So, in the future, when you miss out on a hot comic rising in price due to movie news you are going to let it slide and move on to the next comic before the price goes up?
  17. It won't upgrade my business acumen but I think you're missing the point, the majority of my losses are from my emotions and once I get a handle on it I will be in the green or very close to it that I can promise you and since you like examples I'll give you some I wouldn't have bought or overpaid for GSX 1 $355 JLA # 1 NG $210 Bat 4 $223 Betty and Veronica 320 $470 Infinity gauntlet's 9.8 x5 and 9.6 x2 $985.60 X-men 266 9.6 graded $337.50 ASM 129 CGC 8.0 $966 Total money saved $3324.10 So when you tell me my control of emotions won't help things I have to say I disagree This post is disconcerting. This sounds like you are blaming all of your bad choices on a vague concept of "emotional problems". What happens if you get a handle on these problems and still make poor business decisions?
