  1. ASM #300 is my favorite issue of all-time, slightly ahead of Batman #232 which I consider a masterpiece.

#300 is a perfect comic, imo. Great art, great story, great new character, attractive cover, AND, as an extra bonus, it's double-sized. Feels great in the hands. Weighty.

I've had my copy for almost 20 years now and, believe me, it's beat.

  2. with the spike in NM 98 I suspect we'll see a lot of collectors sell their extra NM 98 9.8's and go after Hulk 181 or ASM 129 this holiday season.

Hulk 181 has been moving up fast in low grade recently, to much to ignore. Also High grade hulk 181's have seemed to stabalize this year so that compounded with Wolverine's Death will make hulk 181 fire this holiday season as younger collectors finally can start to afford/trade for other high end books.

The interest in Hulk 181 is phenomenal currently and its not even Christmas/post Christmas yet. not as many copies on the market this year. 9.8's should have no problem cruising back up to 15k within a year or so.. (not quite the 20k of early cgc days but still..it will eventually get there again)

but seriously,, go check out low grade cgc hulk 181 sold listings, its nuts..

almost 1k in very low grade..

It's crazy. Even a lower grade, incomplete copy with married pages is going to set you back some pretty serious money. This one sold for $575.

That's not bad for a pedigreed copy! :baiting:

Ah yes, the famous Qualified pedigree! :preach:

  4. Crazy that X-Force 2 is going up in price, maybe people are settling for the 2nd Deadpool appearance since NM 98 is getting pricey.

I wonder if X-Force #11 is going to take off too. That has a plus of also having the first Domino. I haven't been able to find that one locally at all. Methinks speculators are buying them up.

Oddly, Rob Liefeld tweeted that Domino's first appearance was New Mutants #98. Wikipedia says #11.

Does Rob know that copycat was playing Domino in NM 98? Was that -script rewritten? hm

How does someone who has never been seen before get impersonated first? hm

    Good point! hm

Retcon, not the first time it's been done.

    hm

What if they did this with Deadpool ? X-force #2 would be the new 1st appearance.

  5. His are the archetypal comic book cover, imo. They draw your attention and make you want to know what's inside.

Even the very early issues of Detective, which were relatively simple, were really attractive. #6 for example.

    6-1.jpg

They started getting more detailed from about #7 onwards. #11 is one of my absolute favs. Beautiful detail. Everything looks so organic. Very 3D.

    11-1.jpg

Then of course you have #18 which is just a masterpiece. Don't even get me started on the Adventure's... just beautiful stuff.

He's top 3 of all-time, for me. With Wood and Schomburg.

  6. There are 4 known Church books that actually have the name "Church" written on them. One of them is an early Centaur and one is the most valuable comic book on the planet. The other two have Flessel covers. I've had one of the Flessels for awhile and was able to pick up the second one in the last CC auction.

You have such an amazing collection. That AC26 is stunning.

Flessel is one of my favorite GA artists. I hope someone publishes an artbook for him one day.

  7. I know what you mean - and I can't help but do business with any place that ends on "o-rama" either. Just oozes credibility.

I figured out how to post the image. Thanks again for all your advice, it's a lot to consider!

Looks like a really nice copy. Very well done. (thumbs u

  8. You got it! Thanks :3

Awesome spidey room! I see the bed , do you sleep there? My wife would kill me if I had that much comic stuff in our room. lol

    Yes, this is my bedroom.

I kinda feel sorry for you guys with the wife that wont let you do this kinda stuff D: Since I'm the female I don't think it will be a problem for me. ;3

  9. Just moved into a new house and I came across a door that I didnt remember seeing in the walk thru.

Based on where it was situated I didnt think it could be a closet, but I tried to open the door...

    It was locked....

Started digging thru the keys the landlord gave me

Ah a key! and it fits!

    what the?!?!?

Slap my butt and call me Chuck Rozanski!

Just kidding... I did move into a new house, and found this super shallow closet (it got consumed in a bathroom redo on the other side of the wall) but it's perfect for displaying slabs, and it all sits behind a closed (and lockable!) door, which is handy when you have a 5 year old running around.
