Adlard's cover for Invincible #100

Has anyone ever had any problems with CGC? Specifically in regards to submitting a high grade book (at the very LEAST a 9.0 candidate, but more likely a 9.4-9.6) and having it come back a drastically lower grade?
I submitted #27 (among others) at SDCC, called and received my grades. Was happy for the most part, mostly high grades. HOWEVER, #27 is coming back a 8.5.
Bummed considering that looking at the book, there was nothing notably wrong with it. Corners were sharp, spine, etc etc etc. So I am wondering what happened and if this has happened to any of you guys before.
When I get the book back and if I see notable damage when there was none at the time of submission, what if any action can or should be taken on my part. I wont lie, it's pretty frustrating.
First thing to realise is that it could be a defect on the inside of the book. Unless you checked every single page with a magnifying glass, it's possible you missed something. Unfortunately, unless the defect is obvious from the cover, you'd have to pay for grader's notes to find out what dropped it.
In terms of legal action if the book comes back with damage that wasn't there when you sent it, it could get complicated. Your books are insured by CGC while on their premises. But there would no doubt be a discussion to be had about whether the books were damaged on the way to them or not - difficult to prove. So unless you had insurance on the way over, could be problematic.
One thing I think I can say with confidence is that if CGC damaged your book, and realised they had, they wouldn't simply go ahead and grade it and return it to you - you would be contacted first (this has happened to me before).
Tell us that story!

Not gonna lie. With numbers like that, this show isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I was definitely in the camp of 4 seasons is all it's got. They will milk this for all it's worth, even if the numbers are half of those up top.

And I disagree with some of you guys. The Governor has definitely upped his A-hole quotient as of late. Lots of things have been patterned on his character straight from the book.
Also, all the people asking for a more rapey Gov? You're unsettling me. I know you mean it within the context of the comic, but just take a step back and hear what you're saying....

Damn. What an episode.

Perhaps sell now, buy again later? great book, but think Howard the Duck #1.
[font:Book Antiqua]Not a bad advice from someone so young...[/font]
That's what i did. I'm banking on buying my 9.8 black label #1 a few years from now.

great example there..
This is my favorite.
HER NAME IS LITERALLY ON A BILLBOARD.
Cool, but i mean, c'mon, dude! If you want to detract flippers, he's doing a great job.
-
Yeah-- not a personal thing, and to be honest, i would probably NEVER sell a TM OA. But I don't want to look at my name. I'd rather look at his art.
-
OK-- so i'm all about personalization and everything on my sketches, etc. But why did Tony personalize his remark on the OA? I know he can do whatever he wants, but i mean, at least do it on the back, TM!
-
Yeah-- definitely a must-see.

Until this conversation shifts:
UNSUBSCRIBE.

I feel let down. Really bad things should have happened to Maggie this past episode. We are seeing how far the producers are allowed to push it... and its not very far. Makes me wish that the show was on HBO or Showtime.
Step back and reread the above out of context.
Right? It's kind of off putting. I know what he means, but yeesh.
-
Damn. Great episode.

Isn't there an OA forum for all this?
I have no idea who or what a rugg cover is and frankly don't care.
May I POLITELY suggest that the OA forum is the place to be as most of the art convo's are about money and how well someone did at someone elses expense.
I kind of think this falls perfectly within the space of "The Walking Dead Discussion Thread."
If we were talking the TV show, yes, but on the comic?...
-
Who drew that one?
Sean Phillips. Not mine but wouldn't mind having it.
That would've been an awesome cover for #100...
-
I loved #1. Interested to see what's up with the second book.
-
yes sir-- Ultimate Collection Vol 1

Just got an awesome sketch from a fellow boardie of Raph-- Nice sized, too!
-
Kevin Eastman big sketch of Raph!

Agree about the spoiler, but let's be honest, the modern thread is pretty much all TWD.

I don't recall him being a fan favorite. I do remember him being majorly involved in the story but I can't see # 7 jumping like 19.
tyreese was definitely a fan favorite. my second favorite character behind michonne.
I've got a Tyrese sketch from Adlard and I love it. He was always my favorite and i'm amped at seeing him on the show...

Good thing i finally caught up with the comic a few months ago!

Yeah, just not into the cutesy style. I can see how others like it, but not my taste.
