Restored or Conserved?
Figment replied to Figment's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
No loss of grade after CT removal. Now I'm off to the task of comparing the purple label image to the blue/grey label image to see if I can spot the difference. Thank you all, this is indeed what I was hoping for in the first place! -

Restored or Conserved?

Results of screening... The evaluation of this invoice is complete. The Fantastic Four #1 was approved for color touch removal only. CCS determined that the book would then be graded as a conserved book. I am pleased and optimistic the grade won't drop too much. -

Thank for the thoughts all. I decided to send it back for restoration removal (if possible) and hopefully that blue/grey label. Stay tuned... -

I watched it sit until I couldn't stand it anymore. Probably paid too much but hey, I had a few bucks leftover from a recent sale so why not. -
Favorite Covers of the Golden Age, what’s yours?
Figment replied to eschnit's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
The Namora #3 is probably my favorite, but the Sub 17 holds a special place being the first GA issue I ever bought, and the Sub 18 is just flat out cool! -

Restored or Conserved?
Figment replied to Figment's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Obviously I would have preferred a conserved label, and the question does raise others. Is there enough of a value difference between a purple B1 and a blue/grey A1 to make the cost worthwhile? Would the grade necessarily drop, or at this condition would a small now un-retouched area not matter that much? You lot definitely have better eyes and more expertise than me, do you think it would be worth doing? -

The color touch is news to me, and must have escaped Susan's notice. She did say she thought the right edge may have been trimmed, but apparently the graders didn't think so. Regardless, at B1 I'll take it! -

The state of the Golden Age market
Figment replied to minutekev@50's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Given the popularity of the MCU, it's hard to imagine any of the Timely, Atlas or Marvel silver age superhero books ever declining in dollar value. They may not keep up with other things you could invest in, but there's never going to be any more than there are now, and given that comics in general have become a mainstream investment vehicle it's easy to see why. Just my 2c. Our family will continue to invest in them! -

I got my love of Pogo from my dad. He was a physicist, not a comics guy, and followed the strip in one of those 400 newspapers. He was especially fond of the G.O. Fizzickle Pogo story line that celebrated his profession. I collected the Animal Comics and Pogo runs in his honor, the softcover reprints were his.
