  1. Thanks Silver. Always very cool books! I'm really starting to wonder what DC thought Superman's core demographic was during the 1950s and early 60s, because it seems like a lot of the issues appear to be romance comics dressed up in a superhero costume.
  2. What, you think we've all just been blowing smoke up your ?! This stuff REALLY IS close to impossible to find!!! No HG early SA DCs, guess I won't be coming to WC anytime soon! Feh! Mere 12-center! Burn away! Looking forward to reading your impressions of the con and the dinner.
  3. Definitely agree this is a cool idea. There have been some posts at various times by people of comics from their birth month, and I believe some people have tried to collect comics from that month, but I don't think anyone has gone quite to the same degree as you. Good luck on your quest, and as FD mentioned, post your want list, I bet these Boards can help you out on at least some of them.
  4. I don't think anyone has posted a Dell on this thread yet! One of my favorite titles, Turok Son of Stone. This was the only 10 cent Turok I have in my archives, will post more when I get a new scanner (don't say it FFB!).
  5. Great thread, and we'll look forward to seeing your other posts, particularly the art inside and later issues. I think the lack of contribution from other members of the boards shows how hard these books are to find, not our lack of enthusiasm for the title.
  6. Probably about a 9.0. The most amazing thing about it is the fresh page and cover quality. Every other copy I see has tan edges. Joe That's just a 9.0? Looks nice than that (front cover at least, although of course scans don't always reveal everything). Beautiful books in any event.
  7. The only thing we're trying to keep bumped up is the list of eBay user IDs.
  8. Hommina, hommina, hommina... I'm speechless! Awesome thread, Joe, these are all books I've NEVER seen before. Keep them coming, please! Interesting that the covers are actually from Hank Ketcham. Is any of the interior art from him too? I have nothing to contribute here, unfortunately. I only have very beat up store-bought copies from the 1970s (and a few odd back issues from the 1960s that I picked up here and there) that my sister and I read when we were kids, and they're all sitting at her house in the US. We had a lot of the digests too, which contained reprints of a lot of the great stories from the 1950s and 60s.
  9. I've been asking him the same questions! There are so many cool covers on this thread I've never seen before. Not being a Supes or Bats collector, I really only knew the classic GA, SA and BA covers and the more common issues that come up on the market a lot, so it's really great to see a lot of this really rare stuff.
  10. Wow, talk about spooky. I was just going to ask why Mark Zaid's nicest silver age DC (Showcase #4 CGC 9.2) is so much better and more important than your nicest silver age DC (B&B#28 CGC 9.4). Yeah Tim....why is that so? What are you, the little kid yelling insults from behind his dad?
  11. Wow, talk about spooky. I was just going to ask why Mark Zaid's nicest silver age DC (Showcase #4 CGC 9.2) is so much better and more important than your nicest silver age DC (B&B#28 CGC 9.4). Counselor, I'm going to have to dismiss your claim for lack of jurisdiction (you must be used to hearing judges dismissing you ). Please note that this is a pedigree thread and neither of the aforementioned books is a pedigree. Try to be a little more prepared the next you come into my court... beeyotch!
  12. Brad, how come that GR ST seems to be much nicer than any of your GRs?
  13. What an amazing book! It's so rare to see a WWII-era GA book that does not depict Japanese people as some sort of caricature.
  14. Just went through this thread. Adam, your books here are even more amazing than what you've been putting in the 10-cent thread. Great cover. From now on, I want everyone here to refer to me as Tim Boo Ba! Actually, in Mandarin that could almost be translated as "Tim don't be scared" or "Tim is not scared"!
  15. It will cost you $500 per hour for the answer.
  16. See, don't you think it fits in here pretty well? BTW, does anyone have a nice FF 1 or 2 to share with us here?
  17. Showcase 26 is a classic cover! The various Superman and Batman titles are the main items missing from my collection. I was just never that into them, and the thought of having to go all the way back into the 1930s and 1940s to complete a run was just too daunting.
  18. Tom, I started to reply to this post and decided to send you a PM instead. This has been a great thread and I have no desire for it to get hijacked by a flamewar. -Tim
