So many videos on Youtube proclaiming this is failing because of "Girl Power" yet it's much of the characters that were celebrated in Fury Road without a focus on Mad Max directly.
Bummer to see people forcing themselves to dislike something over that assumption.
There was lots of "girl power" in Fury Road, nobody seemed to mind... although perhaps it makes a difference to have it in capital letters...?

Watched it on Netflix last night, unfortunately missed it in the theaters, it was a very limited release, wish I had made more of an effort. I read further above in this thread that it was made for $10 million? Really? If so, and I were in the business of financing those other so-called Hollywood "blockbusters" I would be rethinking what I am paying for exactly. The story would have been compelling, and deeply significant in its context, even if there had been no real Godzilla...if it had just been some demon of the soul haunting him for what happened in the war, it would have been a powerful premise for a movie. The central theme of choosing to live, the stark portrayal of the devastation of war, the question of when, for each of its participants, a war really ends, a question universal to any conflict, and brought full circle at the end, raised the story to another level. There were so many scenes where I was emotionally gripped, the movie was in some sense a catharsis for the entire war.

DEAR LONELY HEART #2 in 2.0/2.5; ROMANTIC ADVENTURES #41 in 4.0. DLH #2 (fairly tough book) is kinda rough with a bottom corner chew, cover detached at top staple, nice colors. The first page of RA #41 has a direct swipe of Baker's Diary Secrets #17 cover with two teens embracing on the beach... lol, kinda cool.
$25 / LOT OF 2
the DLH cover is lovely, super sweet and nostalgic...if you ever get a better copy PM me I'll want it

Hi everyone, I am posting this here to put it on the radar. I have no involvement in this and so no information beyond what the news reports, that said if any of our members are closer to this story please jump in with better perspective. My understanding is that being an "essential service", the border would remain open but strike action would create delays at crossings, impacting both human and commercial traffic. I am assuming this would also mean packages shipped from the US to Canada may experience delays in clearing customs. It appears that currently both sides are in mediation, but news outlets are reporting that workers would be in a legal strike position sometime in June.
My own
is that if a Canadian buyer were considering or arranging a significant purchase from a US seller, or anywhere abroad, for the sake of both parties, I would either consider moving shipment forward or pushing shipment back, to avoid having a package land at the border in the middle of a strike action. Risk evaluation is finally a personal thing, but it can be nerve wracking to have valuables sitting in a circumstance where there is no control and no sure timeline for resolution.
Again, both sides are still talking, hopefully there is an agreement and no strike, but if your business or your collecting may be impacted by this keep your eyes on the news. Below is a link to a recent CBC report. To our beloved US brothers and sisters, consider also that US news outlets would likely be slower to report on this (being a Canadian labour dispute) and might not report until a strike was either imminent or underway, whereas Canadian news sources will probably have more immediate updates. That said, I'm sure local US news sources in border communities would be more alert to developments.

Very happy to post kudos for Jeremy, he has made large purchases from me for SA and BA Hulks and FF. Jeremy is very friendly, courteous and clear in communications, prompt in payment and great with follow up to see a transaction through to a happy conclusion. He is a serious collector and genuine fan of the hobby, a pleasure to know and to do business with complete confidence.
Many thanks again Jeremy, I look forward to next time
Cheers,

Advisory possible strike action Canada Border Services (customs)
in Comics General
Posted
Bumping this for a quick update. News outlets are reporting that a strike of the Canadian Border Services may begin as early as the end of the day today. There are a lot of "maybes" as negotiations continue and of course brinksmanship is part of negotiation. Again, while most Border Service agents are considered "essential services" and therefore cannot walk off the job, they could employ "work to rule" tactics to slow and delay the movement of people and goods across the border.
