Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???
Westy Steve replied to InfantTerrible's topic in Comics General
I'm a landlord several times over. I don't think tenants who can't/won't pay are spending their funds that way. I do believe there are a lot of people out there making more money on unemployment than they make working, and those people could be buying books, but likely not big ticket books. IMHO, I do think there were a lot of people who took a mortgage hiatus believing that the government was going to give them a sweet bailout and some of that money may have been funneled into comics. Not sure that the mortgage hiatus will be as good of a deal as people thought it was going to be though. -
OK, I’ll throw my 10 gallon hat into the ring. I thought this was cool because it was before he got the “outlaw” added to his name. (sellers photo)

Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?
Westy Steve replied to Reno McCoy's topic in Pulp Magazines
Pick this up because it was cheap and I’ve never seen it before. The other cover is pretty sexy but this one has its own fantasy elements. Makes me wonder what other giant women covers are out there. -

I think we're going to see prices bounce back up. Why? Today, I got a government check for $500. Can't figure out why it was so much, as I have a 16 year old and a 17 year old who turns 18 next month. Perhaps they are paying attention to the 18 year old's birthday, or the age calculation is based on the beginning of the year...just not sure. Anyway, yeah...I know it's an advance on a tax credit, but it's a generous advance that shows up monthly and people are too stupid to save it for tax time. The tax credit was doubled and the advances are supposed to be about half of the entire credit, so to me, as a gainfully employed, decently paid guy, it's free money. -
Is there a thread about CGC (considering?) grading video games? What do we know for a fact? CCG to Hire Top Video Game Experts to Launch New Grading Service | CGC (cgccomics.com) What impact might this have?

Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?
Westy Steve replied to Reno McCoy's topic in Pulp Magazines
I get that. I think if I could avoid the shipping fees I would probably do that too...love those glossy covers and vintage fonts. I guess I should clarify that all of these books STILL seem like bargains relative to comics to the extent that I hunt them harder when I’m saving funds for overpriced comics and miss my mailman’s face. Seems there are way less bargains popping up from uninformed sellers and the better material doesn’t seem to come to market as often or at all. -

Interesting. I’ve been quiet lately, but I still pick up a book here or there. And I’ve noticed there are less and less bargains. -
Silver age comics that are heating up

Yes, but two Wrights make an airplane -
I wonder if that is because it’s the closest they can get to the enchantress without getting sued.

I don’t think it’s a female Loki. Another Loki wouldn’t treat him that way. Its not about a Loki.
-
I want to point out two key things that happened at the end of episode number two. ***potential spoiler below*** When Loki was being thrown around, he made a comment that “I would never do this to me”. I believe there is more meaning in that statement than face value. Secondly he was later told, “it’s not about you”. There may also be a secondary meaning in that statement as well. Everybody is focusing on the appearance of the interloper, but nobody seems to be discussing the dialogue.

The market has changed it’s mind on a lot of things over the years. IMHO, if you want to see the first glimpse of that particular time traveler, you need FF19.

Yes. And his real name isn’t Kang or Rama Tut. Those are both names he gave himself. His name is Nathanial If Victor Von Doom first appeared as a pharaoh under an Alias name, wouldn’t that still be the first Dr. Doom? Or would we just ignore that encounter?

Saw this in a local show today and it was too good of a deal to pass up. Is there a bigger pre-hero monster than this one?
-
too nice to be a 1.0. Maybe a 1.5 or 1.8 right now. Clean and press would be 2.0. Page quality helps the grade.

PGM vision and the scarlet witch 8
Westy Steve replied to Scootk's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Maybe a 6.0 now. With a Clean and Press, I could see a 7.0 -
PGM Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #119

Black spots shouldn't affect grade. 4.0
