  1. Great idea for a sketch! Thanks Maloney! Andy said he had quite a few folks offer to buy it as he was sketching. Thinking of what to get on the back now. Any ideas?
  2. First I want to say THANK YOU for posting this as I used this last year when I was just starting to get into this new found hobby. I just wanted to provide an update to this particular step. I prepared my books again this year for PHXCC and followed all of these steps again. However, the CGC rep informed me at the show that if you were to follow Step 8 above and submit your comics with that flap covering the cut out Mylar where the signature was placed, your books will be significantly delayed on getting graded. He told me that when they get these books, they just place them to the side as it stops their existing workflow process of bar coding all books when they process them because they have to remove the comic and insert it into another Mylar that has no cutout. He suggested that you ship to your facilitator another Mylar bag where they then can remove the comic from the cut one and place into a good bag. He told me the reason they don't process your books with a cut window in the bag because in the past they have accidentally placed their bar code sticker on the actual book over the signature! So don't do this if you want your comics graded promptly.
  3. Thanks! Had a great time watching all three get created over the three days @ PHXCC. Jen Broomall created the last slave Leia. Funny story with that one. I dropped all 3 blanks off the minute I got there on Friday morning @ 10 when the doors opened. I told all three artists take their time and I would get them before COB on Sunday. I stopped by Jen's booth on Saturday and she still hadn't started. Came by by end of day that same day and she still hadn't started. I stopped by around 2pm on Sunday and her booth was gone! No Jen to be found. The artists next to her said that she had left it with them and she had worked on it that night and then had to catch an early flight that morning. Such a cool girl for sure as I for sure thought that my blank and potential sketch was done for!
  4. Here are my new ones I just picked up this last weekend while @ PHXCC
  5. Very cool and congrats man! BUT and a BIG BUT... How in the HELL did the grade jump from a 9.6 to a 9.8? Oh wait, sorry I forgot, the grading is not a science but highly subjective in the eyes of the beholder! [wink...wink...]
  6. So many great sketches everyone! I just started so not as good as the rest of yours but it's a start! I'm super happy with them and can't wait to get more done! I had my first three commissioned last year by Tom Hodges @ PHXCC and then three more this year @ PHXCC (been out of the country for almost 4 months for work so made it back just in time!) These three are from Tom last year: ... this one is from Val Hochberg this year: ... this one from Andy Carreon this year:
  7. Don't Remind Me! Still pissed about this.
  8. who all did you get to sign it? (must be nice to have a 9.8 fully signed SW #1!)
  9. Love this book - congrats! I did love him until I found out @ DragonCon this year he is a hardcore liberal. Just another reason why he's awesome Not saying I still don't want a SG cast signed #1 and meet him in person. I am sure he would be fun to debate politics with!
  10. Love this book - congrats! I did love him until I found out @ DragonCon this year he is a hardcore liberal.
  11. Wait just one minute! I am calling shenanigans on this one! Stan's sig + 8 covers = 9.9? hmmm.... something smells fishy about this one! What REALLY determines a 9.9 over a 9.8? I mean, its a GREAT looking book, but I didn't even know a comic could be graded by so many covers on a single book let alone get the highest grade stamped on the label! My logic would tell me that you would either A) throw out the highest and lowest and take the average of the remaining OR B) default to the lowest.
  12. Nice one! Still need this one for my collection as well! Just trying to figure out a nice way to inform the wife I am going to spend $10k on a high grade one! Suggestions?
  13. Mine was a 9.8 before...well you all know the story by now. Just need Stan now for this one. The way I've been going with trying to get a 9.8 signed by everyone I will have one for every grade!
  14. That is really, really cool! Well done my friend!
  15. Oh man I have those same two first books I am trying to get a 9.8 in first before I send off for sigs! So far I have 5 of the Boba Fett is Dead variants and they all are 9.6's! Great job with these my friend!
  16. That is absolutely amazing! The title of the blank you picked fits perfectly also! How do I get one!?
  17. "There is... another..." SO jealous! I love it! Well done my friend! Sure would be nice if I had one of those!
  18. Nice thanks guys! This really helps clear the air for me. Appreciate all the quick feedback.
  19. Example: Marvel Star Wars #42 http://www.comics.org/issue/34939/ http://www.comics.org/issue/906419/ Which would be considered more valuable? This site shows the Newsstand Edition as the variant.
  20. WOW! Nice find sir! You getting it sent in for grading or restoration?
  21. WOW! Great looking book! So jealous that everyone else's sketches are staying a 9.8! I must have upset someone @ CGC as mine keep coming back a 9.6. But still love them either way!
  22. Doesn't look like that many "Star Wars" collectors are using it. Is this site fairly new? Yes, fairly new. Give it a whirl! Yes for sure! I Love it! Very well organized! I will work this evening on getting as much of my small collection up there and stop using Photobucket. Thanks!
