  1. Great story on the acquisition.  Wish I would have been more insightful back in the 80's when I started collecting to get an AF15.  As far as your book, IMO, I would leave it as it is.  If it's delicate, I wouldn't press it.  I'm not a fan of signed books per se, but if the book has potential of being dubbed as brittle, a signature might help if you decided to sell it.  I have a key book (not quite of this caliber) that I became "star struck" or had that "eureka" moment because of the opportunity to own such a book.  Little did I realize that a some finger print ink smudges would be detrimental to desirability of said key, but alas, it has become an issue when I present the book for sale.  I've been contemplating getting Stan to sign it, but I just don't like the big blob of mess his signature often appears to be.  Again, my 2 pennies.  Oh yea, grade, I'd go 2.5 - 3.0 on this one.

  2. Just got back a nice looking Hulk 181 in 9.0 but it has (B-1) color touch on the front cover. What would a fair price for this book be today?

I'm shocked, it's been 16+ hours and no obligatory "tree fiddy"? Guess I'm the weiner.

That said, deuces wild!!! ugh carpy camera on my phone.

  3. I have a quick question kinda related.

Are people allowed to post a link to a previous sale of a seller's book?

In a sense they could be providing information that might effct the sale.

I ask because I'll be selling some books soon that I'd like to get more than I paid for.

I feel guilty asking for more and not listing original price, but at the same time I feel disclosing purchase price upfront is also shooting myself in the foot.

Asking more for books is the reason these aren't still cover price. :insane:

No one here is ever going to have a problem with someone asking more for a book than they paid. There's nothing unethical about that.

No need to disclose the purchase price at all.

In this case the link to the auction result was not to show the price paid as much as it was to show the disparity in description between the auction and the seller and only after he confirmed, when questioned directly regarding the missing chunk out of a page, that the book was entirely complete.

If the two descriptions matched exactly you wouldn't have seen any link to the auction description at all, and the book might have been sold by now. To me that's a valuable lesson in the rewards of being forthright and the penalties for rounding off the edges on disclosure.

Takes me back to when I listed a book. I was asked how long I owned the book. When I said over a decade, the jerk became belligerent that I paid considerably less than I was asking. Uh yeah a decade ago, prior to any movie hype and new found love for the character.

  4. Cool thread. Makes me want to get all my old systems out, hook them back up and get lost in bitland. Don't think my 3 month old, will allow that. Nor will wifey likey.

I have an Atari 2600, can't recall how many games. NES, SNES, but don't have the boxes. Started keeping boxes with the N64. PS1, 2 & 3. Didn't want the PS4 until I saw Battlefront.

My 2600 that's been packed away for years that sat in my Grandparents attic. Everything probably got baked from the summer heat.

Had my NES hooked up a couple years ago to play SMB then it went all blinky on me. Anyone know if it's an easy fix and/or worth it?

I was in a store last week and saw there is some system that you can play NES, SNES, Genesis and perhaps 1 or 2 more games from other systems on. So, that might be my go to if the NES isn't a viable fix.

    Again, great thread.

  5. Too bubble gummy/teenie bopper-ish. Perhaps if it were Super Woman, but I reckon target audience isn't the 40 somethings that have been waiting years for the media to bring their heroes to life.

Also, Alley McBeal is also way over the top self-absorbed.
