  1. Ikea all the way - I use some of their bookshelves we freed up when we moved, and some of those library display stands for my favourite books, just my small shared corner of the room...

Maybe Suicide Squad should be thought of as a campy comedy?

    hm

If we think of it as a campy comedy like Batman Adam West 1966 than my perception might change.

    Campy is a good word

I love the actress playing Harley Quinn, but I don't love her in this role. I think they should have went with someone less established. I can't see her doing HQ in my mind yet, but then again Ben is Batman so (shrug)

  3. Just now seeing this and my 1st thought was... so Max Cady did rape Juliette Lewis and they had a love-child?

That's all I'm seeing. Max Cady wannabe bs. It's old, not fresh, and already been done much better by Robert De Niro. The only thing shocking is how stale it seems.

I take that back. It's a bit shocking what's been removed. The 'Clown' motif that was Joker from day-1 all the way up through Ledger. Gone. Nothing clownish about this fool. No more "Clown Prince of Crime". Been replaced with "Methhead in Makeup", complete with bad teeth and face tat.

    Yawn.

    I concur

  4. Not sure how I feel about this

    My initial reaction is negative

Looks like they are going to go just "flipping crazy Joker mode." With Ledgers' Joker you got the "genius madman"... Crazy but somewhat sophisticated. This guy looks straight nutball.

Doesn't matter... We're all going to watch it lol

  5. This is not a speculation thread :sumo:

This is one of the few modern threads where true believers live (I count myself amongst them). I came to invincible later in the series but loved it so much I had to put a run together. I have a complete 2-current including most variants (had a #1 but it sold, but I can get another as I have had several).

This is my favorite current series and if you haven't read it you are truly missing out. I need to read some right now

  6. Since we are all friends here, and fans of the book, maybe I can ask an honest question. After rereading 118 this morning, why would anyone want to "start" reading the book if this was their first issue? The recap looks like advertisements that I almost passed over and not one panel shows anyone's powers except for Oliver. I'm confused. I understand the timing, new era/start/life for our heroes, but, I don't understand the pace of the transition. Things are gonna be so crazy, comic book, yeah yeah yeah, but, let's have some bathroom banter and other stuff first.

Love the colors in this issue, Beaulieu nailed it.

Good points. I think the issue perfectly and concisely recaps the series and then offers new story, which contains a lot of elements: humor, shock, sadness, intensity, and wonder.

I'm biased, but I would want more after this issue if I was a newcomer
