Someone just got very lucky. $150 for a #1 1st print black label:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walking-DEad-First-Print-1-Excellent-condition-/281054822184?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item41702c3f28&nma=true&si=c2ihGa8bM%252FY7nTEg%252FWlBpvWRe40%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

2-4 also for $100 each and 5 for $80. Seems like a legit ebay user from the feedback.

    =O !!!!

Ironically, I see no obvious red flags anywhere either.

That only lasted 5 minutes and some odd seconds, too.

  2. I picked up a couple #1-a's and 1-b's, and a 2-a and 2-b fairly early, and wound up keeping three runs going from #3 through #8. Still waitin' for my #8's though.

Logically, I would want to cut my orders to one run to coincide with any major increase in print-run until I want to sell.

    .

I'm not upset about not buying more #1's at $30 to $50 bucks each when the tv hype began, or by keeping a couple extra incomplete runs going till now.

I'm a little upset about not hunting down another quick and cheap #2-a back then, though.

  3. #1 second print or #1 ThirdEye still = my favorite cover art for Revival so far.

I also like that this is still a decent series, although I think that I am at least two issues behind right now. Nice little rally going on with it right now, too. I gotta read some more comics.

  4. I got allocated by ComicsAmerica that day as well, but after a conversation on the phone later that evening, the guy sold me one of everything that I had ordered at the prices that you have in that invoice there.

It's not bait and switch because rather than keeping the low prices posted online, the guy raised his online advertised prices and kept them there after contacting me to say that the order could not be processed. (I've since checked a few times over the past couple of days to see if he WAS dropping them down or whatever, but it does not seem that way.)

Also, they are not obligated to honor the posted prices or amount of stuff that you add to your cart because they do not accept your offer to purchase until after they approve the order. Now if they charged your card and then said, well, we can't sell you this at this price because it's more now, then that would be bait-and-switch. Or price gouging, I forget which.

Either way, I was also disappointed, but hopefully I will at least get a box from them and it will not be damaged.

He said they did already charge him.

That's how they get out of it. Your PayPal is debited(and held pending acceptance). They chose not to honor the order or prices. It's is not 100% bait and switch, but it IS close to being that (advertising a product/price and SWITCHING product, price, or both).

Yep, that's their wiggle-room. I doubt that they had any "plans" to raise price until they got a couple of "big" orders and that's their "watchdog" to investigate their server "glitches". He "could not figure out" how I was able to clean out his inventory into my cart. I don't know, I just kept requesting the next-highest number of items until it said you were out. =\

I understand where the high-grade slabbers have been coming from all along with this title, it's unnerving to see ~40k of an issue. Of every issue. However, it seems that all of the TPB's and multiple printings available are not stopping people from adding a lot of support to the first prints of all the issues, both raw and slabbed.

It will be interesting to see where the real resistance begins. I guess once more books get high grades that will put things into perspective. I don't know. All I know is #1 raw went from 30 bucks to 100 bucks for no obvious reason, and all the other back issues started to creep up in price and vanish altogether, so I bought some more cheaply while I still could, and some weren't as cheap as I would have liked.

  7. when people post a picture like the one with all sagas on ebay, it makes me not want to bid at all. jmo

Pics like what, real big wide ones so now I have to scroll over to read a full sentence on the page? =)

Seriously though, how do you mean exactly?

  8. Well, they are all out of issue 6..I might have bought the last.

I had #5 in my cart but gone by the time I checked out :frustrated:

Sorry, I bought that too.

I had three in my cart moments ago, and then they got snatched out of my cart, much like an unattended toddler at the supermarket.

  9. I am beginning to experience allocations, price increases, and cancellations on pretty much any online first-print non-current back-issue that I order at or near cover at this point, out of the very few that I found to begin with. Let's see if there is a slew of fresh offerings in the near future to stabilize price, or if this madness continues up for a little while longer.

  10. I just tanked up on a bunch of back-issues, although I'm not sure if my last order is for first prints or not, although the date codes are for first prints....I just bought them and then sent a question about it. The last guy I asked something to before deciding to buy or not, jacked up his prices before sending me a reply, hehheh.

  11. bought a raw 9.8 candidate for $40 yesterday, the last one in my comic stores stock, didnt think I'd be back so soon when they doubled it on me from $20 two weeks ago, but they way things are going, how can I NOT buy it for $40 when they are already selling for double on ebay.

I think $80-$100 is the range it will hover in on ebay, unless its NM+ assured. $124 seems to much of a reach for raw.

I would wager the slabs struggle to reach $200, $150-$175 is my call as the trading range for a while. (Remember I got slack in this thread when I said the 9.8 blues would hit $150, less than two weeks ago).

I would buy it at $40 too. I could see this uptick lasting a little while, the buying frenzy came out of nowhere and sellers have not been shy for testing the waters.

My take would be that the two zero-feedback bidders with new accounts duking it out are shill accounts, hoping for someone else to jump on board due to all of the excitement that they are creating. The seller probably runs them both.

Sorry mate - how do you work out that this Image first TWD #1 sell is a shilling war?

Open your eyes, and I ain't your mate.

Forgot to add, I'm liking that new Infinity UK variant! Lego star destroyer, oh yeah!

  14. i think reprints kill the overall collectability of comics....i don't even think they should release a TPB until at least a solid year of comics is done.

I completely and totally disagree on a couple of levels. As someone who supports Saga, I want the book to continue and the best way for that to happen is for as many people as possible to pay for the book. If that means that they are buying it via trade, comixology, etc., whatever. Brian and Fiona will keep writing and drawing the book as long as they continue to make a living off of it. The longer the run is, the better it is for the value of what you own.

Also, trades create more customers for the books. Think about the Walking Dead. Even before the show or rumors of the show, a lot of people jumped on board the title because they picked up the trades and loved them. This created demand for early keys... before the show. This can and may make the Saga books that you own more collectable.

In sum, more readers = more value for your earlier issues, in my opinion. Reprints and trades help create more readers.

I would imagine that we will continue to see trade paperbacks as the series continues, as well as electronic "prints" of each issue, just not reprint after reprint after reprint, ad nauseum.

  15. I got a Sega DreamCast ... with 10 games...

I love Dreamcast, which games do you have for it?

ugh they were all mess games.. NBA2k, Nfl2k, Bass fishing, Rainbow six, a couple of racing games.... scratched to mess...

It was weird because the system/box and system paperwork is in GREAT shape, but they abused the games. I almost thought I would find a friggin Beiber CD with it, the games were in BAD BAD Taste.

    MUST BUY GOOD GAMES...!

    (thumbs u

Not knowing what you like to play, I'll just go out on a limb and suggest trying out Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Soul Caliber, and insofar as sports and racing, NHL 2K2 was really well-done, and Ferrari F355 Challenge is hard as hell, but awesome, and Test Drive Le Mans is also awesome. All of the above are beautifully done games, and my friends and I have spent probably thousands of collective hours playing them.
