Issue 11 (and I apologize for the poor image quality - CGC forgot to scan my books so I have to scan them myself and I don't have the right size scanner . . .  ). Asking $400 . . . 

Next up, issue 2 - harder to find in high grade than #1, this 6.0 with OW/W pages is the 3rd highest graded with only one other 6.0 in existence and only 3 individual copies graded higher (2 7.0s and a single 6.5).  Last sale was one of those 7.0s for $1395! I'm asking a paltry $900 . . .

Selling my group of early Brave and the Bolds - all CGC graded. Some of these have no real GPA pricing data so I'm going to shoot for the moon, and you feel free to shoot me down (but don't take pot-shots. I may ask high, but I aint going to let them go for nothin).  Also take into account that shipping, and anything above $200 is insured, is included in price.

First up - the FIRST ISSUE!!!  Hard to find in nice grade, and this is a 6.0 with OW/W pages. A 4.0 sold for a $1078, then another sold for $698 last year, I am asking $1,650! Cheap!

Here is what the stamp looks like on my book - not too bad, and inconspicuous if you ask me (hey, I didn't really notice it before, so either I just didn't care or its not too bad).

Rockford (at least some) have a distinctive stamp. Check comicbookpedigrees.com for examples.

 

I don't think you will get a premium it will likely sell for whatever any other 8.5 would sell for.

I saw the stamps on that site - I have to wait for the book to come back. As I said I wasn't aware it was a pedigree, so I assume it has a stamp on it somewhere.

This is an Atlas, but an early Silver Age one - have a couple of War (Battle Action, War Comics, Combat Casey) and a Speed Carter, but this is the nicest of the lot (and the only one graded)

So I just got the grade etc. for my Whiz 24 and lo and behold - its a Rockford! I had no clue when I bought it all those years ago, and its a nice surprise. But, I was looking to sell it and have no clue what a Pedigree adds to the value. CGC gave it a nice 8.5.

I understand - I find the layout to have a pop-art cool about it (I bought the Russ Cochran full color cover reprints and started framing them. To me the whole thing is art). Neither of us is right, its a preference. I recently had a moment where I thought Marvels habit of putting the little box in the upper left hand corner with a small portrait of the titles star was odd and broke up the flow of the cover (until I realized they did that because when the comics were displayed at the newstand sometimes only an inch or do of the spine might show and this gave the customers a reliable and easy way to pick out their favorite comics). I have always found my tastes and collecting proclivities evolve over time anyway.

Even though you are admitting to an almost unforgivable, almost inconceivable, lack of interest in the EC's, I think this is a great subject to collect. I have always wanted to collect the run of Frazetta covers for Famous Funnies. Not only are they Frazetta, but they are just incredible examples of what you are talking about. The imagination of the artist run wild, people exposed to the vacuum of space with no protection (or some minimal bit of costume such as a glass fishbowl over their head to indicate that they are, in fact, in space) and no effect of vacuum - more of a Fantasy in space than Science Fiction. Good luck and I hope to see more from this endeavor!
