  1. Just grabbed this one off Ebay. Pretty decent price (At least I think so...)
  2. Just received this one from Heritage. A long time want list book!
  3. The book looks great, but a few light color breaks along the spine. As soon as my mylars arrive, I will crack it open and see what CGC means by "white". That is actually one of the big reasons I picked it up. Myself, I see no real value in spending 4x the money on a 9.2/9.4 when a clean 8.0 looks pretty damn nice. I picked it up off Hake's my first experience with them. Fast shipping and the packing was over the top. Could have survived a drop kick from the biggest UPS driver!
  4. Most recent Batman 28 upgrade, CGC 6.0 to a 8.0 Pretty clean in person.
  5. Thanks. The strange thing was that Midnightshadow17 posted that book for 6 or 7 straight weeks 2 years ago, and no one would bid his starting price. Finally, he listed it at $999, and I decided to hit the bin. At that time I was only collecting Batmans, but since this book was ranked 2nd on the census (8.0 or 8.5 being the highest), I decided to pull the trigger. I'm glad I did. If I ever decide to sell it, you're the person I'll contact first. Hey Skybolt, what Batmans do you have? Are you still collecting?
  6. My latest purchase off Ebay. Won it Thursday night and paid for it a few minutes after the auction ended. Book was shipped today!!! It will be a nice upgraded to the restored copy I have!
  7. Just snagged this one off Ebay, hope everything goes well with the transaction.
  8. I just bought this book from Silveracres in the UK. Now comes the wait for it to make it to the states. So far, very pleasant to deal with.
  9. I personnally don't think anyone should consider the Gerber or Overstreet to be the ultimate source on book scarcity. I look at Gerber as a snapshot in time with estimates based on extremely limited data. Overstreet is more of a "living" document, but it is very slow to update the data as more information comes to light. I personally think it will take many more years to gain a reasonable picture of the true rarity of many books. There are a lot of collectors out there who are never counted in any concensus so they will have to sell off their collections for their books to be counted. I also think "cool" cover books appear to be scarcer than they really are because collectors buy the books and keep them, giving the illusion they are scarce. I bought my Wonderworld 7 in 1989 and I still have it. I think over time CGC will give the collecting community a much better snapshot, but it does have an added skew since books must be deemed "Slab Worthy", so maybe lower dollar, low grade books will not be counted in the concensus. Actually, I was AMAZED when CGC released the Concensus info for FREE. I expected a monthly fee for accessing it since that info is VERY valuable. Personally, I would never collect based on the rarity information listed in Gerber or Overstreet. Still go for what I like not what someone claims is scarce.
  10. I am the person that picked up the Crowley of Batman 45 book from Metro. $275 seemed cheap to me. I have always loved that cover! Congrats on nabbing one of the other copies Metro had!
  11. I collect Gold, Silver, and Bronze comics, Marvel and DC. My main focus is Batman. I also collect original comic book artwork, now focusing on covers and splash pages. Lastly, I love the 1940 Saafield Superman Puzzles. I just scored another one off Ebay today (now I have three of the Superman and the Submarine). Here is a link to the thread I started with scans of all the ones I have (no dupes shown). WARNING BIG FILES!!! Superman Puzzles
  12. Here is one of two pages I picked up recently
  13. Incredible Black Panter cover! Was this the one thta was offered on Ebay about 6 months ago?
  14. Pretty nice. Looks very similar to the one I have but I would guess you got yours for less.
  15. Just got this in the mail today. I don't really keep Superman Comics, but a #68 in 8.5 ow/w for guide was too good of a deal to pass up. Maybe I could trade it for a Batman 58, 68, or 73 in decent condition at some point.
  16. I just picked this one up, but I am still waiting to receive it in the mail...
  17. Damn!, So you are the person that got that one. I was watching closely, but decided to pass at the end. One of my all time fovorite covers. Congrats on the great pick-up. I also have a low grade copy that I picked up a LONG time ago. Can you imagine how much the original art would sell for that cover???
  18. I have seen the Detective 73 turn up a few times on Ebay, but mostly low grade. I attached a scan of the one I picked up from Four Color Comics in 1997. Pretty clean copy. I am debating having it graded, I would put it at a 7.5 to 8.0.
  19. You and me both! Star Spangled 7 is one of my favorite golden age covers. Here is a scan of my copy.
  20. Not a golden-age comic, but a cool item... Just came in the mail today. Batman Artwork
