  1. question- I have a great scanner/copier at work. The problem is the attachment or pdf isn't like the img. I get using imgur. is there a way to convert a pdf to an image for a non computer geek? thx

Most office copiers will send the scanned attachment in a file format of your choosing. I'd do some poking through the send settings (or the like) and try to find an option to send as a .jpg instead of a .pdf. Most are set to PDF by default as document scanning is the primary business use but I have yet to see one that wouldn't send as an image file with a little tweaking.

  2.

Holy mackerel! For $3500 I'm wishing I had two copies so I could unload one.

Also, I feel like this might qualify in some sense for reprint value. Certainly a less expensive way to read the story -

  3. Saw the Mint, Constitution Center, Independence Hall and the the tomb of the unknown revolutionary soldier. I saw the liberty bell yesterday. Any other recommendations ?

Oh... And once I posted it, the seller clarified in his FS thread that they were in fact second printings.

The seller didn't actually clarify, and doesn't seem to have adjusted his listing at all. Another member jumped in and explicitly called out the second prints.

  4. DC Showcase #97 9.8 CGC (Power Girl)

    Sold for $460.44

Don't' know why this book is hot right now. DC Showcase #98 is much scarcer.

Justice League of America #137 9.8 CGC (Captain Marvel Vs. Superman)

    Sold for $275

Back in 2011, I bought mine from a board member here for $250. At the time, I knew I over paid, but I really wanted the book. Now it's getting a lot of steam because DC announce the Captain Marvel film. And we (Probably just me) speculating that DC will put these iconic characters to fight one another.

I don't find those Showcase Powergirl's that hard to find myself.

The Justice League on the other hand I think I have only found 1 in the past year and didn't want to pay what they were asking.

    Raw's of course.

I agree that the Showcase books aren't hard to find raw. In grade though, they're scarce, and 98 especially.

  5.

"1st Solo Power Girl Comic." is probably where the hype is coming from. I wonder if the other one that's been on Ebay for a month or so will get snapped up now. I actually bid on this copy because it's a better presenting example than the other one, but it just seems that early Power Girl is hot. All-Star 58 is not showing up very often in high grade and when it does people are setting new records it seems.

  6. All Star Comics 58 is probably the single most important key followed by Showcase 97-99. I think her name was actually given in Showcase 98.

I had never considered Infinity Inc 7, but it looks like it may have key related value. As for origin it depends on which origin you want to work off. Is she Atlantean? Power Girl has some weird history depending on what you read.

  7. There is no way to force partial refunds, and many people see them as a money grab. He was willing to do a full refund if all books were returned but that isn't an option because you sent one of the books in to be graded. I think it's a wash at this point 2c

  8. I finally got my 8300 up and running but I have a single sketch in one of the thicker slabs (Idk why) and it seems to be considerably more glary than the regular sized slabs. Does anyone have any tweaking advice regarding this?

Keep the top open when scanning slabbed books. Do a test scan to find out where the glare is heaviest (if any), then rescan pressing lightly on the back corresponding with those areas where glare is present on the front. Again, press lightly, ...slabs can take a moderate amount of pressure, but they will crack if you press too hard.

Awesome thanks! I'll keep this in mind next time I fire the scanner up and see how it goes.

  9. Wait...what?

    Dear Collector,

Thank you for your pre-order of the Daredevil PF!

We received an update from our production staff about your statue and wanted to share it with you! We are working hard on your hand crafted Daredevil statue and wanted to inform you that your item will begin arriving into our warehouse and shipping out to you between July and August of 2015.

We apologize for the delay but we wanted to make sure we kept you updated on your item’s status. Should you need to make any adjustments to your pre-order as a result of this information, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.

    Best Regards,

    The Sideshow Team

So, I preordered this last May, have three payments due Feb, March and April... and it ships out in July or August?!

If the statue isn't set to ship until July or August, why wouldn't the payments be due June, July and August?

    Sorry. Just needed to rantrant

I've only been through the process once but they delayed my final payment until the statue was in hand and ready to ship. It was supposed to be last November and they didn't actually charge it until last month when the statue was ready to be shipped. The final payment includes the shipping charges so I imagine they'll delay it for you as well.

  10. Just received this today, very pleased with how it turned out! Sorry for the very basic pics.

Packed away back in the box though until my comic room is ready to display it properly (maybe another year from now)

    Enjoy!

They keep pushing my delivery date back but it's nice to see these showing up!

  11. I thought I would like cannolis...I was wrong. Too greasy for my taste. Was disappointed.

    you had a bad cannoli

This x10,000. Where on earth did you have a greasy cannoli??? It's ricotta cheese, chocolate chips, and sugar lol

Greasy like still from the frying oil? Without question one of the best things about the holiday season is my grandmother making cannoli! Find a real place and try again!

  12. The 30 day rule is how long until it is eligible for PL/HoS. If I put my AF 15 up for sale for $2,500 and say payment due within 1 day paid in 1992 silver dollars (I'm insane) and you :takeit: but don't comply. I am relieved of my obligations and I can put the book back up for sale. However I can nominate you after 30 days to the PL for not completing the transaction. So yea, you can "contract" around it.

How would the nominated party be able to get off the PL if you had already sold the book to someone else willing to meet your outlandish payment terms?

Insane payment requirements aside it sort of seems like you'd be forfeiting your ability to nominate someone to the PL by selling it after the fact.

  13. I've tried to follow along with the mess as best as possible and have reached the following resolution. I'm not sure how everyone would feel about it, but as Calvin once said "A good compromise leaves everyone mad."

This doesn't seem like a PL worthy offense to me and I think having ocean on the list (for this) simply weakens the list. We've established that communication could have been MUCH better on both ends, the thread should have been closed if he really wasn't interested in selling, it was a low move by jawn to try and force a sale, etc, etc, etc. I do like the idea of using this as a chance to define some auto-thread timeout rules since many sellers just abandon their threads instead of posting them as closed.

I think enough about the buyer and seller has been displayed here that many of us can reach our own conclusions about dealing with both/either of them going forward regardless of list status. I know that won't protect people who join the boards after the fact if ocean is removed from the PL. As the offended half jawn would need to approve this, but I don't see anything further to be gained by ocean remaining on the PL. What would need to be done for jawn to feel this was resolved? The book is already sold. An apology for the confusion might be nice but I don't see that happening given the attitudes displayed so far...

A third list would be incredibly helpful in cases like this, but I don't think that is realistic. Every transaction here should be approached with at least a hint of caution even though as we all know Cool Books can make people do some funky things. However, I think the system works reasonably well in it's current form, and part of that is the incredibly simplicity of it. The more public time out lists we try to maintain the more issues like this we'll run into. The PL and HOS have reasonably clearly defined rules and regulations and for the most part the community does a reasonably good job maintaining them. There will always be the occasional cod-piece like solarcadet who just doesn't give a flying $#%@ but I've tried to be responsible with my transactions here and haven't run into any real issues as a result. 2c
