  1. I wonder why LCS's don't at least try this regarding pull lists...allow the customer the option to pre pay for new books, at even bigger than typical discount. If the shop is giving 15% off + bag and board, why not do 20% if you pre pay? No stock sitting for months waiting to be picked up while your cash is being held hostage...or worse, the pull list isn't picked up at all. Just a thought...maybe some shops already do this. I would do it to save more $.
  2. Is that All Star cover for real? This is freaky!
  3. Not only that, I'm mainly DC but Daredevil is a favorite. I didn't/don't know the Jessica Jones character at all. Every time I came across "ALIAS" I saw an artsy cover with an undefinable female face, that "MAX Explicit Content" logo and assumed it was a mature-readers adaption of... I'd read a MAX title before and thought it was horrible (Punisher, I think). So I had no interest. And I don't remember any "heat" surrounding the title until the Netflix announcement. Now I'm really looking forward to the show, but yeah, I have no clue. Edit: In my defense I point to the ALIAS logos. Somewhat similar, with TV it's the highlighted "S", Jessica Jones it's the odball "A". So I assumed Marvel had bought the rights and resurrected the TV storyline for mature-only. A dead-wrong-but-reasonable-assumpton (so I doubt I was the only one). You are not the only one...I thought the exact same thing, and even when I read the New Avengers books a few years ago, I still thought it was the TV character, since I'd never watched the show either. Funny thing is, since I assumed it for so long, it still lingers, even though I know better now. I think it doesn't help that it was a character that was retconned into continuity (as I understand it), so I don't know that much about the character to this minute.
  4. Anyone make a nice statue of Batman, looking as he did in 1939? I've always thought a statue of him as he appeared on Detective 27 would be one I would like to have.
  5. I may be in the minority, but I own an AF 15, JIM 83, TOS 39, DD 1, FF1, ST 110, Avengers 1, IH 1 and more (admittedly all low grade), but I have no slabbed books. I still like to open them up from time to time. Don't plan to ever sell or slab them...maybe, just maybe when I'm in my twilight years.
  6. At least one person really was...but I do other stuff, and don't memorize the website. Really just wanted to see if anyone else saw the trailer...didn't really give it much more thought than that.
  7. Just saw the trailer...I must admit, it looked better than I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting much. I didn't even hear the trailer was coming out, but a non comic buddy at work was playing it on his PC.
  8. Do you mind if I ask what your rate was when you had the $15k coverage? I'm just wondering what my ballpark would be?
  9. So wild...when I see Barry Smith in this pic, standing that way, it looks so much like how he would draw Conan in a profile view.
  10. DD is my favorite character, so I'm watching this show no matter how it turns out, but I'm thinking Charlie Cox looks like he could use a few more months in the weight room to play DD...or are there pics that would show otherwise?
  11. Are you freaking kidding me? ALL of those FF's in high grade???
  12. Do yourself a favor, and read the whole storyline...TPB or collect them all! Very well done, and worth the time.
  13. I'll do just that...probably tomorrow when things slow down for me. If you guys want to preview it...there is a pic in the original posting, which can be found: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7396469#Post7396469 Feel free to share your thoughts...I'm interested!
  14. I just bought a BB 28 off a boardie (I haven't received it yet) for $500 shipped. He listed the book as a .5, but I think it would likely grade out at a 1.0. It's complete, although the cover is held on with tape...all in all, I think I got it for a fair price. I've never owned a copy, and am looking forward to adding it to my "Fire Collection", which is my stack of books I keep together so they can be grabbed quickly in case of disaster.
  15. I would like to get in on this if it's still around!
  16. Dayum! Looks like you own a time machine, only way to get a copy that looks like that.
  17. I have a fond memory of childhood, probably mid 70's. Our comic shop had a $.75 box, and inside was a very ragged DD #3, with masking tape on the spine. I wanted the book so badly, I walked to my father with it in my hands like I was walking to the death gallows...but he saw how much I wanted it, and put it in the pile of purchases. I still have that copy, as well as my upgrade...just can't let that one go.
  18. A bit off topic, but I picked up a mini series "The Last Ride of the Marvel Western Heroes" last weekend at a show. Not a bad read, and was nice to see all of the major Marvel Cowboys (and Red Wolf) together in one book. Was a bit rushed in feel, and all kinds of coincidences to get the guys together, but still worth a peek for cheap. Only thing that kept throwing me was the characters didn't wear their customary outfits, so it got a bit tough to tell who was who. Reading the book, made me want to pick up some of the old issues!
  19. Someone please refresh my memory...I'm at work and can't check. In DD #7 when he gets his red costume, do they even address the color change, or just act as if nothing happened?
  20. I love the show, and love the comics, but I couldn't buy a copy at the prices they're going for right now. I have no faith in the ability to maintain. I know other examples have been posted here, so I thought I would add to that. Marvel Comics Star Wars #1. Nice rise in price back in the day, but definitely came back to earth after the movies ran their original course. Bottom line, books are worth what someone will pay for them, and after the show is off the air for a few years, less demand is inevitable...let's hope that's 25 years from now, because it's the best show on TV in my opinion!
  21. My eyes aren't so good anymore...what's the difference between white and black label?
  22. Went way out of his way to grab 4 books for me, and shipped them in iron clad protection. Very recommended!
