Walmart Marvel Comics Variants
masterlogan2000 replied to mr_highgrade's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
And since there are more and more questions about this, I decided to open up two packs to help in the discussion: Pack 1 Wolverine: Infinity Watch #1 (Walmart Exclusive) Guardians of the Galaxy #147 (2nd Print) Champions #6 (2nd Print) Pack 2 Marvel Comics Presents (Vol 3) #1 (Walmart Exclusive) Iron Fist #74 (2nd Print) Weapon X #4 (2nd Print) I do not plan on opening my other MCP or Wolverine packs at this time, so I can't tell if we'd get the same exact comics or if the other two books are randomly inserted. If anyone else wants to weigh in, that'd be great. -

The answer here is Yes and Yes. These are 3-packs with the very top book book of the pack being visible. This top book is a Walmart exclusive. Yes, the cover art is the same, but these were special printed just for Walmart and contain different colored titles and/or issue number boxes. The other two comics included in the 3-pack are hidden from view. These are NOT Walmart exclusives and are recent issues. Sometimes you get a second printing, sometimes you get the latest Spider-man issue. The last pack I opened contained the All-New Wolverine #19 Walmart exclusive, a True Believer's Wolverine: The Origin, and a Monster's Unleashed #1 (the latter two being just regular issues). So... are these produced by Marvel for Walmart exclusively? YES (for the top, visible issue) Is Marvel selling off its overstock in these bundles? YES (for the two additional issues) Now, I can't say definitively whether the other two issues are overstock or sourced from somewhere else... but for the purpose of this discussion, two of the three issues in this pack are NOT Walmart exclusives, and one issue IS an exclusive. -

https://www.starwarscelebration.com/Features/Show-Floor/Exhibitor-Exclusives/ Looks like they had a lottery system for each exhibitor exclusive (Funko, Hasbro, and Lego), but entry to the lottery closed on Monday. -

Oh, and the other two "mystery" books are just a repackaging of recent regular books (perhaps old/excess inventory). -

Yes, the art is exactly the same on the majority (if not ALL) of these issues. However, upon close inspection, you'll notice the title and/or issue number box (or their borders) are a different color or shade. It's subtle, but does distinguish between the regular versions. -
I'll mention Wolverine #102.5 again. I'll admit that part of the price bump on both 9.6 and 9.8 copies are due to the poor, flimsy paper stock for this issue. Combine that with the fact that many of these were mail-away promos, and you're looking at very few truly high grade copies. However, until very recently where you can find a number of them for sale on eBay, this was a tough book to locate in any grade for a decent price. Many Wolverine completists such as myself, spent months waiting for any copy to pop up for sale online, and years for higher grade copies to surface. Even with the recent influx of supply, it's rare for a copy in any grade to sell for less than $100.

How many blank interior pages does this come with? Do you have any specifics on the production, such as... Who made them and why? Was there any official Marvel branding or licensing involved with them? What year were these produced? How many were made? I think I know the answer to a lot of these questions, but would prefer not to make any assumptions here.

Walmart Marvel Comics Variants

Interesting... I don't think my Walmart had the Artgerm in stock. I'll have to check later tonight. I only saw the Captain Marvel: Braver and Mightier book: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=captain+marvel+braver+walmart&_sacat=155290&LH_TitleDesc=0&_fsrp=1&_sop=16&_osacat=155290&_odkw=captain+marvel+-artgerm+walmart&LH_TitleDesc=0 -
Walmart Marvel Comics Variants

Picked these up yesterday. Came out to be $7.98 per 3-Pack. They also had new Avengers, Guardians, Venom, and Captain Marvel books, but I didn't pick any of those up. -
1990 to Current - $500+ NO VARIANT LIST
masterlogan2000 replied to valiantman's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
How about another worthless Wolverine... Wolverine 102.5 Highly sought after by collectors and super hard to find in high grade due to flimsy cover stock and mail away distribution. CGC 9.6 generally sells for well above $250 as well if you decide to make that your level. -
Need help finding specific comic covers

That's a decent one. I bet there's lots of modern "fire" issues from Marvel... like this Wolverine: Firebreak What can I say? I collect a lot of modern Wolverines. For more orange, the whole Origin series may be good. With #2 being one of my all-time absolute favorites. -

Pssshhh.... have you not followed or remembered any of my posts? I collect these Hulk #8s and the X-Men price variants. For what I'm hunting, the only one I'm missing is the X-Men #96 ($2.49), which I'm pretty sure @FlyingDonut scooped up from under my nose on eBay one time. With that said, I'm open to a trade if anyone has the X-Men book I'm missing. I have multiples of a couple of the others. Can't wait to see it!
