  1. I'd be there in a NY minute, but I'm in San Francisco.
  2. I would and always have conceded that. The market - until very recently - did not. Hence the use of Conan 23 in this thread as an example. No quibble there . . . but, I would always buy the 24 over the 23 - just for the BWS cover (and first stunning cover App!) And show me one person who thinks it's not a beautiful comic book.
  3. To me, there’s a dead period between the end of the Copper Age (early 90’s) to the early 2000’s when Ultimate Spider-Man got going, that feels like its own age. Perhaps, but they're never going to leave it up to us to decide.
  4. The value of those two books is the result of them having the rarest variants among all the issues up for consideration as the first appearance. Batman 656 is cheaper than Batman 655 because that issue has no variant, but 655 has the 1:10 incentive. Justice League 31 combopack is the rarest variant of any Jessica Cruz first appearance book. The regular covers are propped up by the price the variant commands. Also 655 was one of CBSI's babies because the owner loved the character, and he hyped that book for half a decade proclaiming Damian to be the next big thing. Runs to the garage to see how many dozens of copies I have of Justice League 31 . . .
  5. Conan 23. Nice to see you finally come around to the dark side Donut!
  6. It's been said before on these threads . . . what I collect is golden and what you collect is poo-poo!
  7. No that's not happens in comic collecting with graded books. You are making general statements without examples. You hear that 500Club, I wouldn't take that standing up!
  8. I've been saying that for 20 years . . . people don't change around here (even the impressionable newbs)
  9. Or maybe just move along . . . and don't send them in at all. Why would anybody buy a comic "book" encased in plastic anyway? It's not like it's better, safer, easier to look at or read, or more appreciable in any way other than the marketplace's infatuation with it.
  10. I remember the good old days when you could actually call and speak with a grader or two. And you'd have your books back in hand in two months from the day you sent them.
  11. True, didn't mean to come off like a bitter, angry nerd (although in rereading my post, def got that vibe) but it just seems kinda absurd that it's taking this long with NO update. I get CGC is busy (that's great) and I get that there was a hurricane (that's horrible) but I guess just giving customers more than "scheduled for grading" for almost a full calendar year would be a bit more than a courtesy. I've sent several other books to CGC and haven't had any problems (even if it took a while to get back). Usually they get the books back to me before the turn around time (and certainly updated the books status prior to the turn around time). I don't know why this submission is any different and it makes me nervous that my submission fell through the cracks... So . . . did they come yet???
