  1. I can't keep track, but I'll take this one if it's still available! -d
  2. Run the copyright search if you really want to know. Because we all know that wikipedia is whatever the last man standing says.
  3. CM - Those are beautiful! Tell me . . . what is your biggest regret (vis-a-vis cutting the Shanna stamp out of Hulk 181)?
  4. I have to say that is just. Plain. Freakin'. Awesome.
  5. Ok, as a new sub-forum has yet to be established, I started a test thread in the Copper/Modern section: First Appearances Only. Anyone (unless you are on the Probation List) may post a book in the thread.
  6. Please post any comments, suggestions or other thoughts to the thread linked above. And remember, this type of thread only works if it's populated by multiple sellers and books that meet the stated criteria.
  7. Ok, no objections heard, we are going to try and experiment here. If you read my proposal last week, this is an initial trial attempt. If you didn't, here is a link to the discussion: Topical Sales Thread for all Sellers. You are hereby invited to participate in this thread. If you have any changes to the terms stated below, then be sure to note them in your post. Payment via PayPal; no personal payments. Shipping is via Priority Mail (US) and International 1st Class at cost. This is approximately $7.50 US, $16.50 to Canada, and $23.00 International. Returns are accepted if you are not entirely pleased (within 30 days of ). Just communicate with the seller and tell them why you are unhappy. Return shipping is paid by the BUYER. First in thread wins. It is the responsibility of the seller to mark the book as sold if a deal is accepted by PM. Let me know if I've forgotten anything. Lest I not introduce this thread without any controversy below is the first offering: Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 - NM 9.4 OWW (possible 9.6); No restoration; This book has not been pressed: $45.00 SOLD! - 1st Published Appearance of Gambit
  8. I think you may be correct at 8.5. Although there are a number of spine ticks, it has a lot of positives going for it!
  9. Some other thoughts: Why would you take a cover that looks like this from another book? Why would you marry it to the new interior with all of the excess to the top edge? Why not split the overhang between the top and bottom? And if it's a repro-cover, why not trim it? Lastly, why not use vintage staples, which are easily come by?
  10. Well, it seems apparent (particularly from the last image) that the cover does not belong to the book. It's oversized, and there are extra staple holes. That said, it is a fairly nice job of marrying the cover to the book. Unfortunately, it is nowhere near perfect. It even suggests that the cover may be a reproduction of some kind. However, I ask you this: If the cover is a fake, there would be no reason NOT to trim it to the dimensions of the interior; what if anything would be lost? It's perplexing and the best judgment will be made with the book in hand. I don't think that any additional photos would have made this any easier. Good luck with the outcome, and do report it to us! -d
  11. I was just responding to the conversation. I was just amused by how people think they know what they're talking about. Btw, I was pawing through the bargain boxes yesterday at the local LCS, and a 16-year old comes in and starts talking about how they just optioned such and such . . . hilarious.
  12. This is the Copper Age Forum . . . Anything that happened after 1994 is of no significance.
  13. Oh, and just to chime in on Gambit, "intent" is also irrelevant to the discussion (unless you own a short-box of UXM #266s).
  14. Once again, largely irrelevant. We are talking real dollars and cents, not "tree-fiddy"
  15. This is what makes a second printing, a second printing - anything beyond a month or two is either a "reprint" or a manufactured collectible. When second printings started, no serious collector embraced them. It has only become recently (in the last 20 years - ) fashionable.
