  2. KEY ISSUES Comics FACT if I stop posting, trillions and trillions of transistors would be out of work. Member 4,639 posts Joined: December 2, 2006 Location: Staying In Canada That's refreshing!
  3. Something new in the sales forums? For example, I could start a thread here that invites anyone to post any book that contains a "Mark Jewelers' insert". Instead of being a single-owner sales thread, it's whoever's got the goods. Another thread might be a "Joker Covers thread." Another thread could be a "Multiple Covers thread." I am thinking that these could take off! Before all the naysayers chime in, as long as each individual post and poster follows the forum rules, then have at it. Arch? Thoughts?
  4. Look at a few random books to ascertain the overall condition and then buy them. Who cares how many there are? 10 Boxes of BA books is 10 boxes of BA books. As long as the price is right, you will do quite well. Good luck! Oh, and btw, if he jumps on your first offer then you've offered too much.
  5. I don't think characterizing the big block retailers as "quasi-newsstand vendors" is accurate, but I do agree that they were (probably) telling them ( the comic publishers) that they needed to have barcodes on their (comic) books, or the book sellers wouldn't sell them. I would also suggest that comics were of very little interest to their bottom line at any time between 1981 and 1992. I would also agree and suggest that the only reason they even knew about comic books, and thus Marvel and DC's entire product line, was through their (Marvel and DC's) marketing departments. It's not like they commanded their attention from an economic standpoint.
  6. This is irrelevant to the time period in question.
  7. Of course, by all means. I only was responding to the "investment" aspect of the question. Liking what you choose should always guide your purchases.
  8. I was surprised to discover that not only that, but every other issue (#2 on) has both direct and newsstand issues.
  9. It was much more common in Silver Age books.
  10. Rather that start a new thread over one book. I thought that this might be the most appropriate thread to post in: Are there no direct edition copies of The Sensational She-Hulk #1 (May 1989)???
  11. I'm not sure that I have any of those . . .
  12. It's been done before. Spidey has a spoon???
  13. And indeed, that's the thrill of the game!
  14. Hey, In case you din't see this post . . . . I picked a nice minty copy a couple of days ago: What The ?! #3 (And a newsstand copy to boot! . . . )
  15. For every book . . . there is a buyer. Somewhere.
  16. This thread is nothing without pics . . .
