  1. Well, there are a zillion other better things to "watch" . . . .
  2. That's all??? I'm all in short boxes now (my aching back) but I bet I've got 60 short boxes of "potential"
  3. Funny how anything Wrightson brings out my fave boardies . . .
  4. Geeks - Remind me again, has your voice changed yet?
  5. You sir, are a blankety-blank-blank! I challenge thee to a duel at 20 paces (at which point even YOUR 9.8s will look like 9.8s, or the drivel you spout!)
  6. Of course, but it doesn't invalidate the sale - that's only my sales model (and as far as I know . . . I'm not going anywhere soon.)
  7. And yet, most here only consider the slabbed 9.8 value as valid.
  8. 9. No one said or implied that the rejects were going to be 9.8s (except you in your silly attempt to put words in my mouth) but I can easily state that they are likely very nice copies of the book, and certainly collection-worthy. It's the "plastic and label obsession" that should be criticized here, not the difference between any individual grading between a 9.0 and 9.6. And for those of you who don't cherish the 9.0s in your collection, I truly feel sorry for you.
  10. Of course, I don't disagree with either of you . . . but from the perspective of CA books being more or less the "death of the industry" or the comic book equivalent of "the Great Recession": books that weren't worth the paper they were printed on, and long boxes selling for $10-$15 box (if that) in the nineties, I think that sales at 50 to 100 times cover price qualifies as "heating up". Sometimes we forget that they are comic books, and that the vast number of back-issue sales are within the $10 to $40 "disposable income" range. These are the sales which gear the back-issue marketplace, and arguably need to be discussed in this thread - Not just the ultra-elites. Most times, those books merit a thread of their own.
  11. Coppers continue to rule the marketplace . . . why is this thread so dead? (Zed's dead, baby, Zed's dead.)
  12. Figure you can make a bundle by listing them as 9.8s? Actually . . . that's just what I think of CGC's grading on any given day.For all you people (you know who you are) that don't think a book can be a 9.8 unless it's encapsulated in so much plastic, that you couldn't possibly grade it (even in hand) and bears the "certified" numero in the upper LH corner . . . 9.8 Starting here: "Aweandlorder, 500Club, Hey Kids, Comics! and 3 others reacted to this"
