  1. Free money not your thing? And yes, I know - that's not a newsstand in the main image, I've already swapped them out. That's what I was waiting for! (Runs to garage . . . )
  2. That makes sense, I can see the logic there. So 457 is basically his first “official” appearance as Robin. Well, it really depends on which issue I have more copies of at any given time . . .
  3. I think I joined that club 30 times when I was a teenager . . .
  4. Something big's got to really happen before I start pulling Wonder Man appearances.
  5. Debatable, as to less common (but only because they appeared in every copy of every issue they appeared in.) But also, they are not hard stock full page centerfolds like most of the Mark Jewelers (if my memory serves me well)
  6. LOL - it was my opinion; no fixing needed. Munson was taken too soon. There's no telling how his career would have ended up had cruel fate not stepped in. As for Berra; he was top-notch, both as a man and as a player. I think he was a bit underrated, if such a thing is possible. Casey knew - he put Berra on his all-time team...and left Mantle off that list. Well, do you remember the yarn when Casey was drafting for the expansion Mets? When asked why he picked a catcher (first) in the expansion draft, he responded, "Well somebody's got to stop the ball, right?" Casey loved his catchers!
  7. Here's something even better: https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superhero/thor-156-marvel-1968-cgc-mt-100-white-pages/a/7244-91018.s I guess I should have been clearer in my first post . . . this thread is not about everyone else's 9.9s, it's about YOUR 9.9s. Period. So if you don't own them, or you didn't self-submit and obtain the sacrosanct grade of 9.9, then don't post them here.
  8. Well said, and good points, (I can't believe I just said that about a Jaydog post) but the RRP aspect turns me off tremendously.
  9. Oh, I don't know about that . . .
  10. In or around 2000, I actually returned a raw 8.0-ish X-Men #1 to an auctioneer after delivery because I (incorrectly, but naively) thought it was color-touched in the price block. I'd give anything to have that book back instead of the $800 refund for the return. Of course, you can add my CGC 2.0 Amazing Fantasy 15 to this list (which I let go for $2Gs)
  11. And I guess I'll close this evening with the quote commonly attributed to Groucho Marx, "I wouldn't want to be part of any club which would have me as a member . . ." which certainly could have been Samuel Clemens or Cicero. (There should be a Groucho emoji to insert here but they all suck too.)
  12. In fact, I'd have to spend quite a bit more time to choose a modern age grail (if any there are) to post, instead of the collected knee-jerk fanboy responses that have been posted here. Self admittedly, to me, the comic art form begins with "comic art" not some trumped-up scarcity, sociological act or declaration. Frankly, it takes both great art and social upheaval, not just one of those elements. "With great power comes great responsibility."
  13. Hugely popular, however, so at least there's some justification for its significance to the hobby, but frankly, What has Miles done? His only achievement is to be the first non-white spider-man. And don't misinterpret me, I am a principled supporter of all things progressive, integrated and non-white (or however you wish to categorize or define it.)
  14. Please feel free to voice your own opinions, but where is the hobby going if this thread represents our body of collectors' alleged Grails? Down the toilet I say (much like Bitcoin).
  15. I guess I'm kind of a weeny, because I think this cover is perhaps the worst rendition of Gwen Stacy . . . EVER. Period.
  16. And there is even less to declare about this book, but for it's alleged scarcity, it's not even artistic . . . It is simply bad art.
  17. Unless you're talking about Miles Davis.
  18. And arguably, there is nothing special about Miles.
  19. For example, but for Miles, there is absolutely nothing special about this book. (No offense meant to October.)
  20. I don't have a "dealer inventory" but I have a lot of books I like.
  21. Ok, we can all play this game . . .
